Casting is complete and filming underway for the upcoming Japanese movie adaptation of popular shoujo manga Itazura na Kiss. The movie is called Itazura na Kiss The Movie ~Haisukuru hen~ (Mischievous Kiss The Movie: High School version) and stars two newbies in the lead roles of cold smart male lead Irie Naoki and bumbling one-track minded Aihara Kotoko. Hitting all the requirements of young, tall, and handsome, 19 year old young actor Sato Kanto will need to give his own interpretation of Naoki, while pretty 21 year old Visa Reina will have to do her best to convince us of her dim and kindhearted personality. I’ve liked all the ItaKiss iterations to varying degrees, and firmly believe which version works the best is judged on a personal connection level. The last version was out of Japan in the 2013 J-dorama Itazura na Kiss: Love in Tokyo, which was quite popular among the younger crowd but never connected with me. But it’s revival of this story in Japan does make it good timing for the movie version coming out in 2016.
I’m not sure I’ll ever understand why this manga keeps getting remade so much. The story is cute, but there’re other cute stories out there.
I shames me to say that I’ve watched every single version and the anime starting from middle school with ISWAK. I’ve learned a lot in the past 10 years. Following a guy to the ends of the Earth is not one of them. I wish they made the female lead more ambitious with her own individual interests. She’s a likeable character when she’s not daydreaming all the time.
LOL that’s nothing to be ashamed of. There’s nothing wrong with liking the story. Even if not perfect, it’s cute, I can get people liking it. I just don’t particularly get what in this one story gets production companies going ‘Let’s make another remake of this! It hasn’t been done enough!’.
Hey, i think you should watch the thai version, the name is kiss me and the female lead is less of a mug. In my opinion ISWAK will always be better cause it was my first drama but this thai version is pretty good, better than the japanese version and the korean one
Me too!
And here I am, patiently waiting for a day Japan decides to adapt SkipBeat…
I wonder if they’re waiting for the manga to end first. I stopped reading a long time ago because there’s no romantic development. Kyoko still hasn’t realized Ren is Corn. I heard that Kyoko is of age now so there’s no reason for Ren to hide his feelings anymore. I just want them to be together.
Where can I read the manga updated?
I know, right? I mean why even make the first season when they just leave you hanging like that for years?? It’s so unfair!
can’t wait for this… watched all the version including the anime.. and read the manga too…
but i was hoping that Fukushi Sato as Irie Naoki… 🙂
I loved the Taiwanese version…
hear, hear (is this the right spelling? or the other ‘here’..LOL) i concur! but the ending of the anime version is my favourite ending of all
I really love this story and i find it very cute but i hope they can stop remaking it and try different adaptation like Ao Haru Ride..There is no so much romance but it makes you feel nostalgic while wathing it.
Why couldn’t they just use the same cast for the movie version than cast a hold much of new actors for the move version. It will feel so odd.
I’ve had enough of ItaKiss. I’ve seen ALL freakin’ versions. Ho
I know, right?
I heard Thailand is making their version of it as well ….
I’ve had enough of ItaKiss I’ve seen ALL freakin’ versions. How about a live-action adaptation of Kaichou wa maid sama? That needs to happen in this lifetime. Hahaha.
I’ve been waiting forever for an adaptation of Kaichou wa Maid Sama! I live in hope.
Me too…
