Liu Shi Shi Wins Lawsuit Against Netizen Spreading Rumor That She Had Another Man’s Baby and Nicky Wu was Divorcing Her
The trend of sue netizens over baseless and/or defamatory rumor spreading has spread to China as well, as this week C-actress Liu Shi Shi won a civil lawsuit against a netizen who spread a pretty awful rumor about her. In April of 2018, a post online said that Liu Shi Shi cheated, got caught, and is carrying another man’s child. She had been married to husband Nicky Wu for two years and this rumor caught fire and spread because which gossipy culture doesn’t titillate at the sight of juicy marital cheating scandals of which there are plenty of true ones in C-ent alone. But this one was false and Liu Shi Shi went as far as hiring a lawyer, tracking down the real identity of the first rumor spreading netizen, and suing that person pronto. Today the court ruled in her favor and found the netizen guilty of defamation. Liu Shi Shi on the other hand remains happily married and welcomed a son with Nicky earlier this year.

I don’t understand the logic of people doing this. If you are really so bored that you make up lies about another person’s life, perhaps your time would be better spent trying to find a life of your own.
