I’m not going to go as far as saying Jang Geun Seok‘s career never reached it’s potential but it’s more like it going go the way most pundits and fans thought it would when be broke out with You’re Beautiful in 2009. Before that he was already the rising young actor to watch with Hwang Jini and Hong Gil Dong, but after YB he was the IT YOUNG ACTOR that everyone and their mothers and grandmothers expected would be top of his acting/age class among other South Korean actors. And that’s where his desires to be free, to experiment, to just enjoy what he wanted to do more than what was the safe/expected path diverged, and so be it. He’s been back from military service since mid-2020 and he did a K-drama Switch: Change the World before his enlistment which helps keep him anchored to the small screen memory. I don’t follow his SNS but K-netizens have been clamoring for his comeback as recent pictures show him happy, healthy, and visually almost identical to his peak as fastidious smexy rocker Hwang Tae Kyung in YB.

He’s Beautiful is my kdrama starting point so he always have a special place in my fangirling, haha. And i’m being superficial but yes he looks really good now. He usually just do my days about food so i was surprised when he started posting his picture looking his hb era. I can’t wait for him pick a project that will catapult him back to limelight bcoz let’s be honest, his post HB projects didn’t retain his popularity then.

You’re Beautiful will always have a place in my heart. It’s not the best drama but I love it like I love some of the masterpieces out there.
10 years ago, Jang Geun Suk was who is predicted would be the top star amongst the Kim Soo Hyuns and Park Seo Joons. Someone who has real talent and credibility. Unfortunately it didn’t go that way but I think in the end, it’s all about personal preference. It’s his life, and he seems to have enjoyed every bit of it in the past decade. So I can’t begrudge him that but I hope he’d find his love for acting again because he’s really great.
He is still one of my all time favorites. I am looking forward to his small screen comeback.
Agree with everyone. You’re Beautiful was one of the dramas that really cemented my love for K-drama and I really enjoyed his acting. I’m glad he’s looking great and seems to be in a happy good place. I will look forward his new works.
He needs to go back to the Beethoven Virus buzz cut. I don’t know what’s with K actors’ possession with mid-long hair.l, but I think most of them look much better with shorter cuts. Good looking ppl really shouldn’t hide their foreheads…
You’re Beautiful was also one of the first kdramas that got me into kdramas. JGS should choose a really good drama and make his comeback. Or, how about a reunion with PSH, that’d be fun to watch.

The thing i like the most in this actor is his incredible , intense gaze . He doesn’t need to say a lot all is expressed in his eyes . A very good actor that i’d like to see more often .
