Netflix original drama Squid Game isn’t just a K-drama anymore, it’s officially THE BIGGEST SHOW worldwide currently as the series just achieved the first ever All Kill on the streaming platform. As of Saturday this week it is #1 in every single country that Netflix airs in, all 83 countries. Two days earlier it was nearly there taking #1 in 82 out of 83 countries except for India but now that is conquered as well. This is the K-drama everyone is talking about and will validate every penny Netflix has spent on Korean original programming investment as well as bring more viewers into K-drama viewing which could expand to K-dramas not airing on Netflix. It’s basically a win-win for the industry and I can see more collaboration with Netflix. I’ve also not seen so much mainstream commentary and critique of Squid Game across all major publications and regions, and even more impressive is that Squid Game is huge in China despite Netflix not being allowed there.

I live in India and trust me, the clout is no joke. Everyone is talking about this drama.
hope the indian actor, anupam tripathi, is getting loads of love too!
Go, Squid Game! I don't know any regular k-drama watchers, but I do know a few people who have watched SG.
I love this so much... Knets wailers must be feeling mad
Yes it's huge everywhere, especially on social media...I'm actually surprised by the hype, I binge watched it as soon as it came out and was not blown away by it as everyone else but the genre is not new to me.
More importantly, happy for everyone involved and this is big for korean shows and movies and their exposure. People are watching more korean offerings on Netflix thanks to Squid Game also.
This also means bigger investements in kdramas and korean movies, hopefully even better offerings too.
For sure, we now have a theme for this years halloween, lots of pink and green ones.
The world will always surprise me. I think Neflix's Move to Heaven and DP were better. But I'm happy for the actors.
You clearly lack taste move tp heaven is nt anything near squid game it was so dull and boring the story is nothing new and before u said squid game is plagiarised from battle royale so it suddenly not valid of being hyped? The effort in making squid game and the budget is far more than move to heaven could achieve with its tearfest unnecessary sad story I don't think move to heaven should get the same hype as squid game though
Its not my genre and still won't watch it. However am so happy its no 1. Because it means or hopefully means better produced Kdramas. And better subtitling too. The Netflix subs always comes out fast with the episode. But I hope globalisation will mean less American- centric wordings/idioms on the subs and more accurate Korean subs.
But other than that just plain happy to find Kdramas being more mainstream and legal nowadays
I think the dub plays a big role in this series because the dubbed voice also high quality, didn't sound fake and available in so many languages
Who would know THIS could happen!!
I watch Korean cinema for 20 years now and kdramas more than 11.
I still don't believe this particular genre made it worldwide.
Happy for the super talented cast...
Can anyone explain why the drama is popular? I might be slow because I don’t get it.
