TW-actor Ethan Ruan Announces Relationship with Non-celeb Girlfriend at the Start of 2022 Year of the Tiger

I remember when all those Taiwanese actors and actresses I loved were just late teens to early twenties young adults when they filmed those cracktastic idol dramas like Prince Turned into Frog, It Started with a Kiss, Fated to Love You, Devil Beside You, and so many more. Now that whole crew is mostly married, some with kid(s), and all are late thirties to even early forties and gosh time just slipped through. Ethan Ruan is 39-years old but the image is still that callow youth blazing his way through female viewer hearts and stringing along Tiffany Ann Hsu in their off-again-on-again decade long relationship. But Tiff is married now and this year in 2022 Ethan is kicking of his Tiger mojos but confirmed a new relationship. He posted on his SNS a picture with his non-celeb girlfriend and doodled adorably over her face to maintain her privacy. He looks low key and content and honestly I hope he’s the last of that bunch of playboys to finally grow up.

  2. Congrats! I can read most of the message in Mandarin though I didn’t go to Chinese school. Only learnt traditional Mandarin 1-2 hours per week for 3-4 years. The 1st sentence said new year bring new hope. 2nd sentence – she is a very ordinary/normal young lady. 3rd sentence – hope everyone can give us a chance to____?????. 4th sentence – thank you (the rest I dunno, lol). Last 2 sentences – wish everyone a happy new year, peace and good health. I think my lao shi (teacher) would be proud. I’m a banana btw.

    • the 3rd sentence reads “Hope everyone gives us some space to get to know each other”, 4th sentence reads “thank you for your understanding (ti3 liang4)” (it literally means to make allowance for but in a sympathetic way but in this context would refer more to being considerate of)
just wanna help out with the chinese part since i’m taiwanese haha

      • @salamandersaviour thank you! I like the word ti liang (understanding, be considerate in a gentle manner) I know that word by listening but my reading comprehension is terrible after years of not reading traditional mandarin characters. I can’t read simplified mandarin coz I wasn’t taught so in school.

  3. It is weirdly gendered to give men shit for not rushing to marry – would you tell a woman ‘playing the field’ to grow up? It’s seriously super annoying and no, I’m not a fan of Ethan Ruan.
