I can totally understand why C-dramas already filmed would want to just air as soon as possible these days, so many random and impacting airing requirements come down willy nilly not to mention the risk of someone in the cast suddenly doing something offensive or cancelable and it’s a no brainer to just air and get your money back. Supernatural period C-drama The Demon Hunter’s Romance is reportedly on deck for September 2023 airing next month on iQiyi. Starring Allen Ren (Ren Jia Lun), who is widely hit and miss, and Song Zu Er, who is like Yang Chao Yue‘s fraternal twin in teeny tiny facial feature looks but vastly superior in acting ability, the drama looks intentionally dull in costume and visuals for a more realistic period vibe, rather than xianxia rainbow vomit of colors or the rich luxe everyone is loaded period costumes. I’m down to give this one a shot and honestly Allen Ren needs to wash off the last two duds in a row.
Since Allen Ren has been exposed with having a affair with a actress…his reputation has taken a hit. Since, he never denied it, the public do not know if it is true. But his affair news is clearly cleaned off online. If he really did have a affair, any respect I had for him previously is gone….
Song Zuer doesn’t look like Yang Chaoyue at all, she has a actress face. Also the reason to watch this is the director Lin Yufen, all her dramas are hits: Journey of Flower, Love 020, Scarlet Heart, Wu Xin, Chinese Paladin, Eternal Love, Love and Destiny. There are no director in Cdramaland with as good of a CV.
The fact that her last drama Golden Hairpin with Yangzi got shelved due to Kris Wu is a travesty and I will watch it for the director.

Allen is a miss or a hit for me. But his scandal was a surprise to me. And i just lose all the respect. An affair is a no no in my dictionary.
I don’t believe Allen would have an affair with anyone stop with the gossiping! He has a family to protect. He is also an excellent actor. I would be easy for people to fantasize about him having an affair. Since he is a great Actotr
