jTBC Drama Strong Girl Nam Soon with Lee Yoo Mi and Ong Seung Woo Rises Astronomically in Ratings to Nearly 10% by Episode 4

Not all sequels or follow ups success or are on par in quality with the original but the 6-year gap here probably helped a lot to make this one feel fresh and fun. jTBC premiered Strong Girl Nam Soon two weekends ago, the follow up to Strong Girl Bong Soon in 2017 which was a hit for Park Bo Young and Park Hyung Sik. This drama started off with 4% ratings and has risen by 2% each episode and the most recent episode 4 got 9.760%. Starring Lee Yoo Mi and Ong Seung Woo, this second go-around of the petite perky girl with the super strength conceit is adorable and heartwarming and just all sorts of positives that K-dramas can deliver and does here. It doesn’t re-invent the wheel but lets the new characters develop their own personalities and surrounds the proceedings with stakes and affection all around.

  1. It’s a cute enough drama but now I now that Nam Soon has finally found her family in Korea for me there’s no urgency to watch what’s gonna happen next. Honestly, I just wanted to see Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo young together again so I watched it cos I heard of their cameos. They are still soooo cute together. Park Bo Young looks gorgeous with longer hair and Park Hyung Sik looks like a walking ad for skincare products when he made his entrance (so handsome).

    • I literally just tuned in to watch their cameo over the weekend. Minmin and Bongbong are still so cute. He’s still as whipped as ever. But it seems like this sequel is getting a lot of love, so I might check it out later.

  2. I found the mother & grandmother way over the top and toooo silly but then the father later explain that her family line the male are slow and female have all their power to their strength that their brains are slow (lol, glad they gave reasons for the silliness). This drama is a nice watch. Leave your brain at the door.

  3. The FL is too childish for me. PBY was super cute but not childish in her action. She’s cute but she looks more like a highschool student than an adult.
I’m not really interesed in the drug investigation…

  4. Ok, I’m in! I’ve been totally into K fantasy dramas, costume or modern. K-ent does know how to make interesting fantasy dramas. I showed Moving and Arthdal Chronicle II to a close relative who’s a CGI engineer. He said that was pretty good. The quality was pretty decent, specifically the fighting and battle scenes. I don’t want to mention other Asian dramas with crappy and pretty fake CGI from his judgment as comparison, lest fans get offended again.

I enjoyed series I and liked Bo Young/Hyung Sik CP so much. I’m so excited about this sequel and definitely will watch after finishing AC II and Moving.

  5. Not really interesting in my opinion. It’s obvious that they are taking country bumpkin and shining knight plot for the romance. I can still watch the family part but they better not focus on the romance. Both male lead has little presence, they don’t stand out at all.

Btw seems like they’re able to maintain the rating increase after do bong soon couple cameo
