Zeng Shun Xi and Li Qin Cast as Leads for C-drama Adaptation of Fantasy Romance Seven Night Snow

Another C-drama got cast and will kick off filming, it’s called Seven Night Snow (七夜雪) and is adapted from a same title novel. The leads are Zeng Shun Xi and Li Qin and this is a fresh pairing and also two stars who can act. Unfortunately for me neither engage my attention but a good story and chemistry can change that. This drama is a fantasy romance about a swordsman and a medicine woman and their friendship and romance and develops over time against the backdrop of danger, betrayal, and fated love.

Zeng Shun Xi and Li Qin Cast as Leads for C-drama Adaptation of Fantasy Romance Seven Night Snow — 14 Comments

  1. Li Qin in any shows is still the same Li Qin. She’s pretty, but there’s no variation in her acting. We get the same Li Qin acting regardless of the drama. You can transplant her from one of her drama to the next and you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. After a while, it gets boring.

  2. I sense the smells of haters in here

The story looks good and they both are decent actors
As always, it relies on the shoulders of screenwriters/scriptwriters to make it good or bad
The people producing this project are pretty good and have successful projects under their names

    • You know, people have varying degrees of likes and dislikes. I think Li Qin is pretty, but that doesn’t mean I have to like her acting.

Do you like every actors and actresses out there? I swear you people who throws around the word “haters” are quite exhausting. Just because I don’t agree with your opinion that doesn’t make me a “hater.”

I have a right to my opinion. And just because I’m critical of Li Qin’s limited acting range doesn’t make me wrong. As a reminder, opinions are SUBJECTIVE

  3. China must really lack suitable age female actress to take on lead roles? They need to pick a actress 7yrs older? I guess this may be another younger man and older lover story…

    • It’s the case of an older woman and a younger man.
This is going to be a very loose adaptation of a book which have the score of 8.4 on Douban. It’s a very high score. The book and the book’s author have their own fandoms.

    • I don’t think there’s anything wrong with doing older woman and younger man stories though as long as it’s convincing. There’s already plenty of conventional older man and young woman stories out there.

      • To be honest, much older man and very young actress starring does bother me alot. I dont tend to watch them.

7yrs is not that big a difference, just that we also watch similar actresses on telly… China really need to look beyond the small pool. I know China have lots of good actresses but they are just not well represented or their looks are not good enough for the public. Very sad.

      • @HL Yeah, the drama industry is too monopolised. It has to do with the drop in quality and status of the directors and scriptwriters in C-ent, and investors having too much authority over role castings.

      • @Litith, I agree it is about the investors… These days the casting is rarely in hands of directors/producers. Such a shame as this practise will just stop C-drama from developing. I like C-movies as top directors still have control over who they want to cast…it is about ability then looks. Thus Chinese movies can go far an beyond.
C-dramas to me are just like a long advertisements…. It will just affect creativity and under develop the industry.
I know China have many young artiste with talents…but they may not want to undergo plastic surgery or have meals with top guys or other industry games… Thus they will not get a break.
I really hope we see a change at some point. Decision making should land back into hands of the experts. Or we will just watch repetition type of stories, castings and looks…So boring.

    • I don’t mind the age difference. It’s just that he looks 12 in the photo on this page and it made me laugh. If one chose to cast a younger male, bring me one without such a baby face. My preference, of course. Other viewers might like that kind of match.

  4. We have been talking a lot about Zhang Linghe being everywhere, but the same goes for Joseph Zeng! Which is absolutely fine by me, because he can act, as you say Ms Koala, and although he’s not “dreamy” in a fangirl way, to me at least he projects super positive energy, sort of like the cute guy next door that is always ready to help everyone in every way he can, including feeding the stray cats in the neighborhood 🙂.
Lin Qin, I haven’t happened to watch her, but I am not one of those pedantic types that make a fuss if the FL is as much as a year older than the ML, especially when very few complain when it is the other way around. Not to mention that there are stories that actually require that the FL is older.
So, this is a show that I would check out, although I went to MDL and took a look at the plot, and judging by it the drama seems super sad, so I am hesitating already!
