The recent deluge of C-drama premieres has its usual winners, losers, and just coasting through participants. A clear winner is C-actor Wang Xing Yue, who went from the everyone hates him male lead in Scent of Time to everyone loves him second male lead in Story of Kunning Palace, with the two dramas basically airing back-to-back thanks to scheduling issues which has worked out in his favor. He was the unexpected surprise in terms of acting in Scent of Time and was able to then build on that momentum with an equally great performance in Kunning Palace thanks to the airing momentum. He gives off Luo Yun Xi, but looks more well-fed and less prone to conniptions or spitting blood aura, so a his visuals are totally there. He’s under Yu Zheng’s agency and actually debuted around the same time as Xu Kai who due to his more striking height and looks got his breakout earlier and Yu Zheng then spent all him time promoting Xu Kai and put Wang Xing Yue on the sidelines. Now Yu Zheng is reportedly going to focus on Wang Xing Yue as his next pet project and has a big male lead C-drama prepping solely for him.
The more I hear of Yu Zheng, the less I like him. I always hear of negative things that he did. Could a person be more controversial? And no, I’m not basing my dislike of him just on Koala’s article. It’s the way he’s treated a lot of my faves (Zhao Lusi, Song Weilong, even Bai Lu) in the past and a host of other controversial news articles relating to him, that makes me dislike his person.

Poor Wang Xing Yue neglected by him.
Luckily he is 21 and still has plenty of opportunities.

From his profile, WXY entered show biz around 2019 when he was 17 years old. And it’s hard to believe a teenager can manipulate more experienced people around him. And so-called step on others around him. It’s as if everyone around him is dumb or simply doormats….
And when it comes to Yu Zheng, this veteran’s few words can deliver damages to new artistes like Zhao Lusi, Deng Wei …. I doubt WXY can control someone like YZ, the media etc unless this WXY is a multi-bullionaire’s son who controls the production studios as well as other agencies. So it’s actually pretty foolish of the trolls/netizens to conclude that WXY can step on other seasoned and older stars around him.
I suspect that some envious folks or even friends-turned-enemies are not happy with his career progress and tries to paint a bad image of him. Just like ZLS, the trolls pick on her every time. I just hope artistes like them stay strong and stable.

I don’t think he was hated in Scent of Time. As a matter of fact, most were rooting for him to get the girl and complaining that he got 2nd lead exposure when he is the male lead. Also, even if Xu Kai was favored ahead of him, he is just 21. So he was then what, 16-19? He has a lot of time.
I hope Yu Zheng makes good his promise to do another drama with him and Zhou Ye as the ending of Scent of Time was unsatisfying.

Kunning palace is the only show that I have watched him, and although I like him pretty well in it, when I saw him on the variety show with the cast of Kunning I actually thought of him as the perfect example of guy that looks good in costume but only average in normal clothes. I am definitely not criticizing his acting skills, but I can’t see him as the new heartthrob either.
Isn’t that what happened with song wei long? He ended up breaking contract with yu zheng. If yu zheng keep him on the sidelines, WXY will eventually leave his agency too.
I haven’t seen any of his dramas but judging from the pics here, he’s actually a very good looking guy. Alot better looking than alot of the leading popular guys out there.
He was born in 2002. He entered Central Academy of Drama to major in Acting at 15 years old and graduated at 18 years old. This is very hard to believe. Taking the Chinese school’s system into consideration. Is he a genius? Or simply lies about his age?
He is truely a graduate of CAD besides everything is well registered in China. If he did ever lie about his age. The lies would already being found out. Have you ever heard about birth certificate, school records and university records?
He hasn’t broken out because that would imply he has exploded and he is nowhere near that. He has definitely improved his status and I see way more people mention him these days in certain conversations which is good but outside of a certain fan circle, people have no idea who he is. He seems way more fit for costumes than modern.
One thing that isn’t good is that he is already behaving in bad cent fashion, licking works and stepping on people for it. That won’t bring him anything good in the long run.

Yu Zheng is his ultimate boss and the guy have being famous for 20+ years for being someone who lifts up and puts down people depending on his mood of the day
His own actors are not free from his crazy methods of ruining people and he is much worse to competitors when he does not like them

He has been stepping on ZLH but also licking a drama that is about to start up and though that isn’t a problem, he then stepped on another young actor that was a candidate for that drama. There were many black drafts (they weren’t even competing for the same role).
Then that wasn’t enough, so they started releasing drafts he is the actual lead which is really wtf considering a known, established male lead has it.
I don’t want to name names because he is just starting to get more known but if he is playing these kinds of games now when he is still a nugu, it doesn’t bode well for the future. And don’t think the ML fans didn’t notice him. They noticed.

WXY is only guilty for one thing which is signing contratct to Yu Zheng’s agency instead of another agency.

If I had a dollar for every time I was told it was not the actor/actress but their company, I would be a millionaire today. Throughout the many years that this type of thing has been happening, this was always a favorite fan excuse. It’s not them, it’s the company. Problem was that not once did this ever change. They either resign for the old agency or when they switch to a new one, the same song and dance continues.
As I said above, I didn’t name any names because he is still young but that doesn’t mean people didn’t notice what was going on. They aren’t obliged to give him the benefit of the doubt. And if this keeps happening, they won’t.
I agree at his age and level, he has no control over his company’s marketing strategy and antics.
Older, established actors and actresses though, that’s a different story. You can never tell how they truly are behind the scenes so I find it ridiculous how some fans believe that their faves are angels and keep pushing nonsense like how kind and well liked they are, it’s just the company, team etc, when the celebrity world is built on meticulously constructed images.

Are these based on melons/rumors or was he actually caught on camera doing these things? I don’t know when these incidents occurred, so maybe he was still young and didn’t understand the consequences of his words/actions? Also, what does “licking work” mean?

I saw 2 things that have ZLH fans mad on twitter:
1. Joking in an interview that ZLH is the one calling the paparazzi because his (WXY) face is always blurred out in the pictures they release.
2. Joking in a vlog that too bad ZLH has to wear makeup to go out to a concert.
And while they may be a bit tactless, the dynamic I get from them in all the BTS and interviews is that they’re always playing up their characters’ rivalry on camera and it comes across as good natured ribbing to me. But maybe someone will pull him aside later for better PR training.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this is negative press put out by his company because he is blowing up and may leave the company when his contract expires. I will take these innuendos with a grain of salt unless I hear it from a reputable blog/news article.

They never really point to anything concrete that the actor/actress has done, instead they gaslight the audience by using words like ‘licking works and stepping on people’ whatever does that mean exactly? WXY is a prankster, I’ve seen him joking and clowning around in the BTS with ZLH who is more reserved and shyer and BL. It doesn’t necessarily mean he is stepping on someone who is more popular.

Good inputs. I feel the same way. I think it’s a strategy to keep the popular and talented actors within the agency and to make them “risky” choice for other agencies to take them in.
Or it could be jealous schemes by other actors who are not as talented as him. Bring him down so they could climb up.

Well he’s already more charismatic and in my opinion, the better actor despite having much less experience. With limited screen time, he still managed to outact everyone in Scent of Time. He’s so young and has a bright future ahead of him.
YZ has been pushing Xu Kai in so many dramas with popular female leads and he still hasn’t broken out…I think it’s time to move on.
I agree with this. If working with Zhou Dong Yu and Yang Mi doesn’t give an actor a major career boost…I don’t know what will. He’s been living off the goodwill from Yanxi Palace for too long. His other dramas after Yanxi that I found enjoyable were the two with Bai Lu – The Legends and Arsenal Military Academy, their chemistry carried both shows.
Ah, now I learn his name. Watching him in Kunning now, and thought he is just okay, good looking though.
I first saw Wang Xing Yue in ” One and Only “. He was good even though he was so young then.
He had good chemistry with Zhou Ye, and even more behind the camera. They was funny and cute. I think he has less chemistry with Bai Lu in Kunning. He is handsome and can act, so I’m looking forward for his new works.
