K-actress Kim Yoo Jung is one of the reasons I’ enjoy My Demon because the plot and direction is like a lower tier level Goblin which remains the pinnacle of the fantasy being in love with a human story. Kinda like Lovers of the Red Sky was a cut rate The Moon Embracing the Sun. It’s not her fault and she makes budget stories better so kudos to her but I wish she can land the great story that she can further elevate. I’m glad she got a fun role though I love Do Do Hee in My Demon that balances strong professional woman but teen girl in love inside haha. She’s in Vietnam this week for what seems like a holiday and shared some lovely pics with her fans and I’m just basking in the great vibes from her all sunshine and relaxation.

Different opinions but i couldn’t buy her being a powerful chaebol business woman in this drama. I see a young girl playing charades but she is cute in cute scenes but that’s about it. I wish I could say her acting improved but the last several dramas of hers has been the same range. But she’s good at selling cuteness and charm when it’s called for.
So much agreed! Anyone who has extensive experience in the business world won’t buy into the theory that she did a convincing job as a shrewd CEO. LOL. Age or looking pretty isn’t an issue but she just did not exude an executive aura in the drama. She was the reason I checked out My Demon but also the most disappointing factor for the lackluster.

I think some people don’t buy her becoming business woman because of her youth aura, because who can believe her who look like a teenager leading the whole company ? But I already buy her mannerism and her cold look. ANd this is rom com mix thriller. You can’t be 100 % look like business woman in rom com genre. Because at times you have to look silly in rom com. If this is melodrama, I will moan too.
Sorry to disagree. I can’t help comparing her with Son Ye Jin in Crash Landing on You. CLOY also had mixed comedic vibes but SYJ had the commanding presence when she was in her CEO moments while KYJ looked like doing a make-believe child play. Nope! She’s completely miscast as a capable executive IMO. Taking our her role as a CEO, she would have looked fine in the remaining context. Unfortunately, the storyline does entail those business executive elements. She is one of the major factors for the drama to be underwhelming.
Yeah, she just doesn’t have the boss vibe. now before anyone call me a “hater”, I’m not saying she’s a terrible actress, just that I prefer her in spunky, resourceful girl roles (ie. as hong ra on in moonlight and in clean with passion). i think she shines in those roles, which isn’t a bad thing.

She is definitely one of the most beautiful young woman in the industry… but her acting have not touched me for years. I really loved her so much as a child actress. She was so impressive in New Heart and Powerful Opponents…and many others after ….
I still remember how the media/fans would pit her against Kim So Hyun…which frankly I felt it was unkind to both very young kids then.

I love her a lot for Moonlight, but since then, I don’t really like her transitions to full adult. I feel that she goes too hard for the innocent yet sexy image eg. in her modern dramas, photoshoots, even the IG shots on this article. It might be the effect of her growing up too fast under the limelight, or just PR decisions, but I’m just not comfortable with that.
I felt this too ever since she took backstreet rookie. She is in too much hurry to transition. She is in her early twenties and can still enjoy getting youth project if she wants

Because I remember pre-Backstreet Rookie, she has much more female fans than male fans. Between her and Kim So Hyun, So Hyun is the one with more fanboys, among them Kwak Dong Yeon, NCT’s Lucas who even came to her fan meeting in Hong Kong, that dude from CN Blue who admitted he has a crush on So Hyun, Song Jae Rim and Jung Il Woo (both chose So Hyun as their ideal type among the Moon Embracing the Sun cast, which is yikes given that So Hyun was just a teenager back then, but that’s another topic), and Cha Eun Woo also chose So Hyun over Yoo Jung (link: https://youtube.com/shorts/mzsCKbkQEWM?si=6g5-HhDMP3UuyWoS).
And in one interview way way back then, Kwak Dong Yeon was asked who he prefers between Yoo Jung and So Hyun, and he answered So Hyun. So yeah, I think You Jung going the innocent/sexy route might be to make her more appealing to male fans. Might be her decision, might also be her management’s decision, which would be understandable from a marketing perspective since they’re trying to market her to a wider demographic.
get a life please. You, overpsychoanalayzing what kim yoo jung does and says is unhealthy. More than being a good actress, she just wants to be a good person first, that’s what she says in her interviews. Getting into more mature roles is normal as she is growing up. That’s just it.

I used to find it so cute knowing that so many male actors considered her their ideal type but now that I am older I find it little creepy that Song Jae Rim who was in his 20s during TMETS was calling KSH his ideal type when she was literally a child.
For me Yoo Jung always has a boyish vibe in her…maybe that’s why she has more female fans.Even now when she appears more to sexy and feminine, she always has that vibe. If you are her follower..check out her behind scene in dramas or when she appear in variety shows. She always be hyperactive and energetic bit in the same time calm and composed person.

The problem is that Kim Yoo Jung Or Kim So Hyun , still look like beautiful teenagers , and both didn’t get the project to make them be seen as adult women with challenging roles . At their age, actresses Moon Geum Young or Yoon Eun Hye had the opportunity to challenge themselves and Moon Geum Young even more . Sad that KYJ and KSH still being casted in dramas for younger viewers . I hope that they will appear next time with meatier roles , solid co stars and show what they are made of !
I agree on KYJ but disagree on KSH. KSH already challenged herself in River where the moon rises, where she not only played THREE characters, she also had to do action, drama, and romance in that show. She definitely elevated that show despite the mediocre writing. No wonder she got her first baeksang nomination because of that drama. Only thing she needs now is a huge hit drama and she’ll be golden as she already proved herself a critically acclaimed actress after River. Now as for KYJ, I agree, she hasn’t found her footing yet. Her peak seems to be as a teenage actress with moonlight. All her dramas after moonlight have been meh both writing and ratings-wise. None of them showcased her well as an actress, which is unfortunate. Nevertheless I’m rooting for these two as they’re my favorite child actresses growing up. Hopefully they both get well-written dramas next year 🤞🏻

I too feel Kim So Hyun have moved on from her young teen years. I see her as adult already. She has taken wise steps to move forward. She never used a sexy image nor did she over play on cuteness. There is a grounded side to her that many fellow cast really like and find her comfortable to be around.
I really have a soft spot for her, I just hope she is given good scripts…She has no been selecting great scripts so far. But I can see she is really challenging herself with difficult characters. She does not carry a Idol baggage. She just wants to act and be respected for acting.
@HL, I really like Sohyun but I haven’t been able to fully like any of her dramas in recent times. Her acting was good in RWTMR but writing for that drama was a big letdown. As for MLL, I did check out some episodes and was not satisfied and also because I was not really fond of the ML. I am really excited for IIF though dk when they are gonna announce the release date or anything from that drama.

i agree that she’s with one of the most beautiful young korean actress currently, along with go younjung, go minsi, roh jeongeui, and shin yeun. but still, i believe that she isn’t so natural like everyone has claimed. besides the successful diet, i think she has done nose filler & skin whitening treatment. coz her past’s nose bridge isn’t as high as the current one. same goes to her current skin tone. she has a different skin tone before backstreet rookie. i know many peoples won’t agree with me or hate me for saying this. but i saw that her appearance and skin tone in my demon and CWPFN drama + conference was different. tbh, i preferred her appearance & skin tone in CWPFN more. but i believe that there’s nothing wrong for beautifying yourself through any kind of methods. it just i don’t agree that she is very natural like everyone has claimed. well, in my opinion, all of korean actresses has done some procedures, be it on their face or on their body. only some are really have natural beauty like jun jihyun, son yejin & kim tahee. for younger actresses, i haven’t really noticed which one is truly natural beauty (no plastic/cosmetic surgery). but of course for yoojung, she’s beautiful in the past and present.
