First Posters for Winter Modern Romance C-drama Ski Into Love with Yu Shu Xin and Lin Yi

The split reaction to recently airing C-drama Amidst a Snowstorm of Love shows that a beautifully seasonal backdrop does not automatically add points to a dramas watchability. I’m still yet to catch up on that one but the reviews were mixed and next winter I’m sure this drama will air to capitalize on yet another snowy romance season. Yu Shu Xin and Lin Yi have been filming the modern romance C-drama Ski Into Love (C-drama title Shhhh, The King is Sleeping) based on a novel of the same name. There is of course love and skiing involved and the first posters are out which capture that vibe with a strong dose of manhua cuteness in the character posters especially. I like Yu Shu Xin now so her being on the wrong side of cute doesn’t bother me right off the bat but I do admit if she wants to branch out or expand her horizons she needs do more darker roles even if her fans love her as the bubbly innocent ingenue.

  1. Well, I’m pretty vocal about being an Esther fan haha, so I’m always on the lookout for any of her dramas. I’m sure people will come around if she ever lands another great drama again. I have to admit that this snow manga themed drama doesn’t sound as intriguing compared to say, the drama with Ryan Ding (still think he’s a miscast, but meh). But I’ll support and watch the first few episodes regardless.

I do think she can pull off other roles, but I like her so much with her general goody-two shoes characters. They suit her. There’s a certain earnestness and sincerity in her acting that is hard to define, but very convincing. And that’s why I don’t mind her roles so far – why mess up a good thing?

    • I agree. I think she’s capable of different roles (ie assassin in Journey to You) but I really enjoy her in this cute/earnest type of role too. It really does suit her and she plays it quite convincingly. They look so cute together!

      • Yeah I’m tired of people judging her for her voice and “baby” persona only. She’s a great actress regardless. I especially love that she enunciates so well and speaks with superb vocal conviction, unlike those who has taken years of lessons and still, no changes in their vocal delivery (not gonna name names lol.)

    • @Coralie, I have to admit her voice is just so unreal to me but she is a better actress then many current young actress. I recently watched her first drama, Journey to You. I found she did own the role. I finished the drama…

I will watch this coming new drama…I am curious off this 2 artiste’s chemistry

      • @HL I suppose you haven’t watched love between fairy and devil then? It’s her most famous work to date (altho I liked her even before this.) Her voice turned off a lot of people, but I don’t mind…it’s like people not liking the baby voice that Zhao LuSi used in The Last Immortal…I thought it was apt and didn’t bother me in the slightest, altho I know people didn’t like it. To each their own.

      • @R

Imagine stanning a talentless hack who is only where she is because her billionaire daddy is paying for it.

That’s what she is and you are a fan of that. Ooof. You should feel bad for the utter lack of self-respect that you have.

    • @Lol…am kinda fascinated by comments like yours. Like what is its purpose? Obviously it’s not to further any kind of interesting discussion and it’s obviously not to convince Esther’s fans that you’re right and they’re wrong cause not like they didn’t acknowledged that lots of commentators on this site dislike her. Is the purpose to be a troll? but like these commenters are not new to this site so they know the hate boner some of the blog’s readers have for Esther so it’s not even clever trolling ? So is your purpose to just make her fans feel bad however briefly?

  2. Call me a hater, oh yeah. Esther Xu can’t act nor has visuals. Her pics are always heavily photoshopped. It doesn’t help with the cheesy English title, “love” again. LMAO

  3. I really liked Lin Yi in Put Your head on my shoulder, he was dorky and funny in that. One of those rare C dramas that had me LOL. Haven’t watched any of his other dramas but I’ll watch this if Esther speaks in a normal voice like in AJTL. Girl is almost 30, time to transition out of baby voice…
Otherwise don’t know if I like Lin Yi enough to plough through this! He ain’t Dylan Wang. Lol.

    • If you want another lin yi dramas then you should watch love scenery and memories of “something” tile.they are very good romance c drama.

      • Thanks @Jomar. Had a quick look at Love Scenary, I don’t really like gaming genre shows lol and I can’t find the Memories whatever where I live. But just found something called The Blessed Girl with Zhao Jinmai. I like her, doesn’t try to act cute with a baby voice and decent actress. Ancient fantasy drama, just right up my alley hahaha.

    • Is it just me or I just can’t watch lin yi with others his role in pyhoms suit him sm that nothing else looks good anymore 😭
But I know he have a new drama with a totally unknown actress I am waiting for that😭

  4. I really like Esther Yu and find her watchable when she uses her real voice. If she’s still doing the cringe baby-voice thing, I don’t think I can get past the first few episodes. I expect them to have good chemistry so I’ll attempt to watch it as I like both actors.

  5. AASOL is a drama that needs heart to appreciate it. True romance fans will understand this. Considering that most people find being in love really hard in real life, it explains why many can’t recognise people in love when they’re put right in front of them. They thrive on silly misunderstandings and conflicts that only exist to lengthen the drama.
There are so many stupid cdramas out there with nonsensical plots and annoying FLs but this ain’t one of them.

I don’t understand why anyone would watch it if they don’t like romance anyway 😕
Can all the trolls leave us to enjoy this romantic MASTERPIECE in peace!!!

  6. I said it before a person voice doesn’t define a person!
Your action and deeds does! Here for Esther yu she a very unique talented, smart beautiful woman! Her natural beauty and humorous altitude being around her help makes your heart joyful!🤣🤣🩵💙💜

  7. After watching Liu Yi on Chun Wan’s short sketch and singing, you can tell this will be his year… I hope he treasure his opportunity well. He is not a great actor but his looks are popular in China. Plus he has the height that is valued in China.

I wonder if he will be more popular then Dylan one day? So hard to tell.

    • I kinda doubt that altho he was very charming in PYHOMS. Lin Yi is almost the same age as Didi and Didi has much better acting range. You only need to watch him in The Rational Life and LBFAD to see he can play earnest, cheerful and humble or cold CEO type. Only for Love was bad but I think more because of the writing and directing tbh. Plus Didi is a regular on variety shows and not afraid to be silly and funny. And now also NBA ambassador, he played really y well in the All Star game. He’s really an all around entertainer.

      • I too agree, I think Lin Yi have not shown as much charisma as Dylan…Dylan is great in variety shows.

  8. They just released Derailment on Netflix. I’m going to try that out altho the character is someone who is semi-evil? But yes I agree everyone has the one role that defines them and he is just so funny and cute in PYOMS! It’s like such a good fit!
