Queen of Tears Drops New Poster After Premiere Highlighting Park Sung Hoon as the Potential Interloper in the Dysfunctional Marriage of Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won

So I’ve already re-watched the first two episodes of Queen of Tears which premiered this past weekend and my love for it has only increased after I have more time to savor the details. And there are so many, from the directing to the dialogue and scenes and callbacks, this is an exquisite meal with multiple courses and each dish layered with subtlety. The two leads Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won are firing on all cylinders in visuals (so good looking) and acting range, not to mention they are given really three-dimensional characters capable of love and loathing. The production has a potential explosive hit on its hands and I hope the remainder of the drama is as entertaining as the first two episodes. I did think tvN and Netflix was promoting the heck out of these, there are like 6 drama posters already but now I think it’s not nearly enough. tvN released a new poster this week after the premiere that shows wuri married dysfunctional couple seated with supporting male lead Park Sung Hoon looming behind them.

  1. I’m pretty sure the 3rd poster is fan made lol. It’s for some reason used in several articles on naver too. Considering how many official posters there actually is, I find that funny. There’s like 7 posters now. 2 family, 2 with Black/Pink combo, 2 in Germany, and the new one with PSH in which everyone looks abs dapper!

And yep. This drama is just *SO* awesome. Netflix and tvN knows where to place their advertising cash behind. When was the last time a drama was this hyped? Glory maybe(?) even though it didn’t air domestically. I am sorta inclined to say CLOY but it can’t have been *that* long.

  3. I think this is the best ongoing kdrama right now and I am so hooked! The leads are just visually matched and are good actors. Park Sung hoon looks like a well dressed photo bomber in that poster.Looking forward to next week’s jealousy hijinks. I think ex bf’s reappearance is just what Hyun Woo needs to realize what a catch Hae In is. She is painted to be the “difficult” one just because of Hyun Woo’s POV. I think he is equally at fault and she is more invested in the marriage than he is. He is the one who wants a divorce!
I am getting villain vibes with Grandpa’s Camilla and Hae in’s sister in law.
I love how sweet and inlove they are on the flasback ending scenes.
    I am also rewatching.

The first ep kinda reminded me of the movie Love Reset with Kang Haneul and Jung So Min from the in laws and how inlove they were before and the animosity after marriage.

    • @Mi – “Grandpa’s Camilla” lolllllll I get schemer vibes from her too

This is the first kdrama in a long, long time with that classic blockbuster kdrama romcom feel, episodes are 75 minutes long but so addictive it feels shorter.

I agree it’s Haein who’s more invested in the marriage (wants him with her at the hospital, trusts him to keep her secret) but everything about their past and the epilogues leave me with so many questions!

  4. Curious if they’re planning to release posters featuring some of the other cast members as they start playing bigger roles in the leads’ lives? That would be pretty cool! Enjoying the heck out of this show and considering how buzzy it’s already been, I’m sure TvN plans to provide us more goodies!

  5. I’m just returning from a 2 week cruise and missed so much of the build up for this drama. All caught up now after spoiling almost every scene via sns. There was just no way of avoiding it but at least I didn’t listen to any of the script LOLL

This is one of the funniest dramas I’ve seen in a looooongggg time. Caught me completely offguard since the title just screams melo?!? KSH’s just brilliant. I wish he did more projects. I had almost forgotten just how much charisma he exudes because of how long he’s been gone. Like he can switch from adorkable drunk to wild animal killer in seconds. He had me rolling throughout the almost 3 hour run time. The PD is also really great here. So well shot with a vibrant colour pallete and long skyward shots. I’m such a fan and it’s only begun. Pleasepleaseplease remain good!!

  6. As @KOALA , i re-rewatched both episodes too ( i didn’t do it since a long time ), i like it even more . I’m hooked . Park Sung Hoon is a plus , i notice him in a weekend drama a few years ago even if he didn’t have much sceen time back then, and i’m happy too see him continue his journey . And the top of the top of veteran actors who are well know from kdrama’s lovers .

  7. So happy to see Park Sung Hoon in this. He just became an actor I look out for after watching him with Nana in Into The Ring. It’s unfortunate that he had to miss out on opportunities and be missing from dramaland for a while after the J.E. debacle. Between his return with The Glory and all it’s success and now being the second lead of Queen of Tears which looks like it’s on the on ramp to being a big hit, I hope offers for lead roles are headed his way. Just sweet to see 3 of my faves headling this drama.

    • I liked him “Into the ring ” too . He was also a credible psychopath diary , which makes me think that i miss Yoon Shi Yoon . Some second leas actors are getting more projects , even lead roles, when ones are less present . I’m talking about Yoon Shi Yoon, Kim Ji Suk, Jung Il Woo,Lee Jang Wook, Kim Jae Wook,

  8. I rewatched as well and love it more the second time. I like that both leads are not perfect characters, once again KSH brought his A game. Can’t wait for the remaining episodes.
