Every time K-ent has a celeb bullying allegation additional ones come out of the woodwork. K-actress Jeon Jong Seo’s Agency Denies School Era Bullying Allegations — 18 Comments

  1. According to all the posts on instiz and pann, it does seem like no one’s even slightly surprised. Apparently there have been accusations for a while now, but was getting cleaned up rather quickly. Lots of knetz have read it, but every time they try to comment or bring it up, the posts itself gets deleted so the media never picked up on it until now. Usually, same as all other cases, I would generally say benefit of doubt. But considering how rampant this accusation has been for years, I am leaning towards it being true.

If true, it’s rather ballsy of her agency to think they can forever get away with this and that the media won’t find out at some point. She’s neither that popular nor exactly that talented to warrant such… hard work. I’m unclear as to why they didn’t wash their hands off while they still could.

    • I don’t know much about her behaviour and if this is true, then it is indeed bad but she is a critically acclaimed actress so, I am quite surprised to see you call her someone untalented.

      • Untalented isn’t exactly the word I used. I said she’s not ‘that’ talented to warrant such extremes as to try and block all bullying accusations for years. That takes a lot of money but more than that, it’s a huge risk for her agency.

    • @Caro – wow, her agency really worked hard to suppress this, like you I wonder how they thought they’d keep getting away with it? She’s a talented actress but school bullying in South Korea is no joke and I would expect at least a specific denial if she hadn’t actually done it.

Stuff like the Hyeri-Han So Hee fight played out very publicly so got blown into a bigger deal than it should have been but at least there were no crimes or violence there, this kind of thing actually deserves to be called a ‘scandal’.

  2. I guess after that allegation against marry my husband actress this year, many victims are able to speak up. I won’t be surprised if many other allegations against other actors or idols also comes up.

  3. Why is school bullying so rampant in S. Korea? I’ve never encountered or heard about any in my school days in either Taiwan or the US. My kid did experience one incident of constant verbal abuse from one of his gifted classmates. That class was offered to academically high performance kids but that Chinese boy was obviously mentally unstable. But that’s the worst without going physical. Even so, verbal abuse did have negative impacts on him as a kid back then. It’s important for victims to be able to open up and talk about bullying. My kid was lucky to have our strong support and advice in the course. Now he just shrugged it off when asked about those bad memories years later as if that deranged boy had never existed on earth. LOL.

Not many kids are as lucky as my boy. Every society should take school bullying seriously and no one should tolerate it.

    • Right? I agree. Sorry to hear about your kid being bullied and I am glad he has the support he needed. I’ve had people tell me to go back to China but that was the extent it.
I can’t imagine some of these kids getting tortured throughout the school year. Bullying is such a big issue in South Korea but money pays people to shut it. Their school system is seriously flawed and corrupt in that aspect.

      • LOL. I think bullies themselves have very low self esteem. It’s odd to me the one bullying my kid had the same skin color as my kid but he seemed to only target at my boy, not the white majority or other minorities in the class. I wonder if that’s also the main reason why my kid has friends from all ethnic groups including Caucasian, Middle Easterners, Hispanics, SE Asian, and African, except for Chinese. It must have some negative impact on his social experience.

    • In my son’s boarding school, he never really encountered racism or bully till the pandemic period. He had to deal with stupid jabs and ridicule for being Chinese…thus spreading Covid. But his school acted very quickly and punished those kids. Not kicked out but still not great.
It is hard to stop what kids say, the school must react and deal with it ASAP to deterred such behaviour..

    • My son is in a Eng boarding school, I was concerned he would be bullied but it happened once mildly. Did not affect him as he just treated the bullies as immature brats. The one time was during the Pandemic…being Chinese, all he has to do is cough, afew kids will laugh and jab at him. He reported to teachers who dealt with it immediately and very firmly. They never bothered him since…

    • Don’t know much about it, but Koreans does a lot of bullying dramas so it has to be a common thing. I think it might have to do with their hierarchy system, how the school system is run, and their justice system as seemingly how money and power can shut off alot of injustices. Like younger people can’t even talk informal to the adults unless they’re close or are allow to speak informal, but what if those adults are taking advantage of the system and bullying you, and you still have to be polite? Or like how the students of Koreans are known to be very studious because of strict parenting so the kids might have to vent it out somewhere. Or I’ve also heard how Koreans are known to be racist since they look down on races that are not their own or even look down on their own race that are mixed with others (not that other countries don’t have this issue too, but the Koreans are not innocent either). I think the standards they set for the society are pretty high too like you have to be a perfectionist. Then again, I’m not a bully so I have no way of understanding the world of a bully and why they need to resort to bullying. It’s a low act for anyone that does it.

  4. I don’t know whether to believe it or not, I still remember another wave of bullying news, when people like Guram from Le Sserafim or Sujin from G-(Idle) were cancelled and kicked out from industry for nothing.
Actor Nam Ju Hyuk, singer Hyuna, rapper B.I. were exposed to fake bullying news (someone said about last one, what B.I. bulled him in high scholl, but B.I. didn’t even go to high school, he was home-schooled).
So i just need more proof to think if this true or not

    • Wasn’t there also an actress, I think Park Hye Soo, that was accused of being a bully but was actually the one that got bullied in school?

      • I don’t remember her tbh. There have been so many cases like this, so now I don’t believe everything and anyone without proof.

  6. I mentioned this in that baseball post about her a few weeks ago. The bullying rumours have been around about her pretty much since just after she debuted.
I thought that was why she stayed away from dramas as drama actors tend to get more scrutiny. But recently she seems to be trying to break into a more mainstream career so I’m not surprised the bullying rumours resurfaced.
