K-actress Ha Young Exits The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call Seasons 2 and 3 Weeks After Her Pro-Japanese Great Grandfather and Problematic Family Wealth Controversy
I take the “voluntarily” part of departing this upcoming drama with a grain of salt, but at least it’s now confirmed how the upcoming season 2 and 3 of hit drama The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call will proceed. Namely without female lead Ha Young, who will not be returning anymore to for the sequel seasons after her great-grandfather being a pro-Japanese collaborator controversy and subsequent scrutiny of the Ahn medical lineage, family wealth, and past actions. Her next drama The Long Shot Trial managed to finish filming in the last few weeks as it was almost completed when her scandal erupted but the airing date is now up in the air. With how domestic South Korean’s overwhelmingly have turned against her as a reality whether any international viewers agree or not, it just doesn’t make sense for The Trauma Code to keep her on when it hasn’t even started filming yet, and re-casting her character or making a new female lead character is safer than sinking money into producing two more seasons only to be unable to air it down the road. And hilariously enough, of the three leads she was actually the only one without any prior scandal when the first season aired, what with Joo Ji Hoon having drug scandal from years ago and Choo Young Woo criticized heavily for following sexy adult influencers and having a phone case that was considered promoting pedophilia couched in artistic expression.
It’s sad but I hope she’ll be able to come back in a few years (hopefully). Her character in the drama was not “super important” anyway and honestly with a drama like trauma code, even if all 3 leads were replaced, the drama could still work.

Sad to hear this. The drama can still move even without her. But I like her character. She is tough but doesnt come out awkward or annoying. And she has amazing chemistry with the rest of the casts
Seems best for her mental health to lay low. The South Korean government is even relaunching a commission to take back any assets that were gained through selling out their country to Japan. Some rich, powerful people are going to lose some money and are not going to be happy with her. She may have to lay low for the 5 years until the commission is finished.
