So C-actress Zhao Lu Si and her partnership with Italian couture house Versace is not off to a good start this year. Her attendance in Macau last month got a lot of negative feedback for her outfit, makeup, and her general visuals. She’s tiny and petite, totally beautiful but not the type of towering model looks that can pull off most European couture as easily. This week she was at another Versace VIP event and took a picture with three rich SNS ladies (I’m guessing Taitai’s or GFs or Weibo influencers) and was mocked for looking small and wan next to them. A highlight though was her reuniting with The Last Immortal costar Wang An Yu at the event and their picture together was mega adorbs. I hope Wang An Yu never ever does another period drama lol he looks so much better as a modern man.
She really is the wrong model for this fashion house. It’s on the mature/sophisticated/sexy side. So when I see her doing press for this and how she is style, it really comes off has as a kid playing dress up w/ grown ups. I still don’t understand this target market using young actor. People in the late30-40+ are the ones w/ money but they neglect the actual age that can afford their expensive stuff.
Donatella herself is as much as petite has lusi, u don’t always need to follow the trend, it fashion trying something different is always the norm, probably the reason why she pick her.
Yes 100% agree with you! She is just a bad fit for versace. Look at all the versace models other than her. Anne Hathaway and Ning ning both have a fierce effortlessly sexy powerful aura. ZLS is cute and not really the powerful glam type. She does come off looking like a little girl playing dress up. They also keep sending her dresses that others with better body proportions have worn already and subjecting her to cruel comparisons. I do wonder if this is on purpose because any publicity is good publicity for versace. I don’t think this has to do with ZLS being younger either. Ning ning is even younger and has pulled off the same looks flawlessly.

So cute with Wang An Yu 😊 I agree he is so good looking in modern clothes. I wish he could just avoid the period dramas but they seem to be a pre-requisite for C-actors to hit it big unfortunately.
I bet if she was model tall and statue-esque, it would have been harder for her to get leading roles. So you win some, you lose some. More important that she looks good in dramas than in some fashion event photos. And i hope she doesn’t give into pressure to get lots of stuff done to her face.
She is small, nothing can change her height now. Just accept the fact. If her dress is short (like the lady on the right), she will look more youthful. I think she looks a bit too mature here which does not make her stand out as the youngest person in the group which should be her main asset at this moment. All other ladies look glamorous. Her fans can keep her in a bird cage if they don’t like comparison because it is not easy to find many people shorter than Lusi 😉

Lusi also has high heels 👠 on. They are all taller than her. No ladies will wear flats with a dress to this kind of event, just the culture. But height should not matter because Lusi is not a model not a basketball player.
I know my point is simply they are short. Acting like her being slightly shorter is a big deal. They chose her to model for a reason and clearly her height was not an issue. The thing is most but not all are genuinely short in Asia. What are they expecting? Too picky and critical is all I see. Never satisfied.
Lusi is pretty and petite (I think she is under 160 cm) so she needs a good stylist who knows how to style a petite lady like her. So far all of her Versace outfits don’t suits her well. I like most of her gowns in her previous events before she gets totally famous like now. The styles suits her petite body very well.
I saw her dancing Douyin with Wang AnYu and ZengLi (her mother in both HD and LLTG), they met on the same Versace event. ZL was in a black simmering pantsuit with a crop inner and she looks amazing and tbh, Lusi was totally upstaged by her, mind you ZL is going 48 yo.

Agree. Lusi cannot carry this brand of clothes. European tailorship requires big frame tall statue to hold up the dress. She does not fit. She best fit to model kids clothing, she looks her best in cute & flowery short dresses.

@Mercy – Nothing wrong with trying out different clothes. But is a problem with her as a spokeswoman!! She cannot even carry the brand. I am surprised the brand chose her!! Maybe because she is buzz worthy, not in a positive way to promote the brand unfortunately. I know Donnatella is petite, but she has modified her body shape to wear low cut dresses (if you compare her with her younger photos). The most important question is “can Lusi sell this brand”? Answer is quite clear especially with her Macau outfit. This is just a joke 😆
If the brand required a European standard and size , then they should stop marketing there cuz this is China in Asia not Europe
@MerryJames – very poor marketing skill I must say… There are better Chinese celebrities for their clothes but they picked Lusi…. Not for long… But they have created buzzies and laughs because of Lusi… This may be a negative promotion tactic because lay people (TaiTai, C9) can wear Versace better than Lusi. At the end of the day, Lusi gets paid and the clothes are free to her.
The Brand chose her…that is all that matters. She accepted the offer. It is a decision between the 2 brands. Versace does have clothes that will suit her built. The owner herself is also petite.
Versace have a number of pieces this session that will suit Lu Si.. There will always be those that will mock….very normal these days. This black dress looks good on her…

ZLS looks dandy and charming by the side of those taller women. The others look very plastic though. LOL. I prefer tall actors on screen but do not have a similar standard on actresses. Just to the contrary, a tall woman who can’t act would definitely turn me off way more than a petite one, e.g., Wang Chu Ran. LOL

I tried to watch The Rise of Phoenixes that many ppl raved about but didn’t feel anything.
I enjoyed the drama immensely till around 40+ I think..then I stop. I did not enjoy how the drama developed after.

TROP is a decent drama, the plot gets clumsy before the middle, so I wouldn’t have liked to see anything. Ni Ni is actually a great actress but she needs to choose scripts with well-written characters.
It’s definitely a bad match and the collab probably won’t last too long. One of the worst things that can happen to a high end luxury brand is when the ambassador is described as tacky. Fans can buy their stuff all they want, but if the public views your products as cheap looking, thats not a good long term. She fits more with Miu Miu, or something young and hip, hopefully the next endorsement will be a better match.
Ambassadors are supposed to elevate the clothes not attract ridicule. I think this hasn’t been a successful pairing although versace has gotten alot of publicity on cnetz because of this…

Can the dress be tailored to suit her better? The only thing that makes her look frumpy next to the other models, is the length of the dress. That’s why it isn’t working for her. And for that I blame her stylist. They should choose clothes that fit her better. Taking the dress up by several inches would remove the ‘dowdy’ look, and she looks much better standing on her own. Anyways, with these things, no publicity is bad publicity, as she grows older she’s bound to have more CF’s that suit her better so long as she remains professional and they part on good terms. It’s no damage to her reputation if they both move on from this to other parties.
ZLS is perfect as she is and does not need PS, so I hope she’s content and comfortable in her looks and doesn’t resort to PS. No indictment on anyone who does get it, but I feel that part of Lu Si’s charm is her relatability and everyday, girl next door type of charm. She’s not known for being a beauty icon. Wishing her the best in her future endeavors.
I concur. Someone above mentioned Ning Ning pulling it off more, but I went to look at her Versace portfolio and most of what she wore were cropped short on her. Therefore, she was able to make it work. If ZLS’s team had done the same cuts, she would look good in them. Of course Ning Ning also has some fullness to her face/figure, but padding could help ZLS, no biggie.
In some photos of NN and Jisoo, their outfits were hideous, but what they did was take photos at certain angles and/or cut to the top of their outfits only LOL. If ZLS had done the same, the effect would be similar
I blame her stylist more. Look at Jisoo with Dior. She’s also not tall but her style and her aure are screaming expensive. IU for example, she’s also petite but still look good for any brand she partners with..
Thus, Lusi can hire a more suitable stylist for herself.
She looks much better here. The dress just needed to be tailored a bit more to be fit the lower half of her body but again, they should have practise how to pose and create an “aura” in the dress/accessories so that when the unfiltered photos come out, it feels like an ensemble. Half the time, the trouble with these clothes is that the clothes are wearing the person instead of the other way around. But I love the make up in this!
