The the next phase for C-movie Nothing Can’t be Undone by a Hotpot was faster than expected. The movie premiered on May 1st in China and was pulled a week later after embarrassingly low ticket sales. The production said it would re-release at a more optimal time, and that turned out to be direct to streaming. The movie was sold to Youku and released exclusively on streaming May 11th. While it’s an ensemble movie and the failure is not the fault of any one cast member or the production team, it’s still getting the most blowback for female lead Yang Mi as she’s the most well known cast member and her team was hyping up the movie prior as another flex for her to take on different genre and role.
