Jung Hae In and Jung So Min Spotted Filming tvN Romance Drama Love Next Door From the Production Team of Hometown Cha Cha Cha
I don’t think this K-drama will arrive by summer time which is a shame because it feels like a warm breezy romance from the synopsis AND I am in desperate need for a heart gripping OTP and romance after finishing Queen of Tears. Currently filming romance drama Love Next Door (Mom’s Friend’s Son) could hit that sweet spot, starring two faves of mine Jung Hae In and Jung So Min with the production team duo of PD and writer from Hometown Cha Cha Cha. The Jungs have been spotted filming in and around Seoul last few weeks for this story about two childhood friends connected by their moms being best friends and finding love in adulthood.
Love the leads, but didn’t care for Cha Cha. So I really hope this hits the sweet spot for me.
I dropped Cha Cha quite late into the drama hoping it would just get more interesting (it did not). I like both leads enough to at least check it out but neither the synopsis nor the production team is giving me much hope.
I’m really excited! I love the actors and I liked Hometown Cha Cha Cha even if I don’t think they handled really well his trauma.
Tbh I never quite understood why JSM did not take off in terms of popularity. She’s a good actress and always has good chemistry with her costars. She’s had dramas with high tropicality like because this is my first time as well as ratings hit like AOS. In the latter, despite giving a great performance, it was really GYJ who took away all the accolades for part 2. For some reason, she just never hits it big. She probably needs a high profile drama which I don’t think is this but we’ll see. She definitely deserves to be up there if its just a question of talent.
Very true , she gave a stellar performance in Alchemy of souls but still dint get the shine , I wonder what could be going wrong , My So min hopefully soon she gets her accolades
AOS was terrible for her. She jumped in to save the production then she was thrown aside when season 2 started. Like no one even dared to mention her after season 1. The director didn’t even mention her in his congratulatory speech in an awards show. He mentioned everyone but her, so that’s that.
But in terms of popularity, she’s popular enough that it’s still a big deal whenever she has acting works. But she really needs to be paired more well-known actors to gain a boost. Maybe along the lines of Lee Jong Suk, Kim Soo Hyun and such. I think her being paired with Kang Ha Neul was a good start. Their movie was a good sleeper hit and now she’s being paired with Hae In, an actor that’s also well liked by the general public. It’s a good step in the right direction.
I don’t know much about the politic bts of AOS but it is very odd that she was basically shoved aside when she basically bailed the production after they fired the initial actress. At least that’s what I recall but regardless of all the drama behind the drama, she was fantastic and it was as much her project as it is GYJ’s.
I honestly don’t think she’s popular enough which is why I brought it up. She’s not exactly a big deal = the project she stars in doesn’t automatically generate buzz before airing or gets everyone talking. She’s more in the range of Nam Ji Hyun (another very underrated actress). I do think costarring an A-list actor would do her wonders. Either way rooting for her to get to the big leagues because she deserves it so much. More than some actresses ahead of her.
I think it’s partly because she’s not pretty/ beautiful in the conventional korean sense (big eyes, small, oval face). She’s a bit like Meg Ryan in the 90s/ 00s – superb actress, well beloved by all, but always stuck in plucky rom-com heroine roles. I can see JSM being like that too – she was great in Love Reset with Kang Ha Neul, also loved her in Monthly Magazine Home. She was definitely the star of AOS1 – sad that she was “sacrificed” in AOS2 promos since they wanted to market GYJ
Love that you called them the jungs koala, it’s nice and catchy. Also I love Jung so min, I have nothing against hae in but i haven’t seen any of his drama, but im really excited for this drama. Like I can hardly contain my excitement, there are a few dramas I’m looking forward to, Gong Yoo and seo hyun jin’s, shin min ah and that fine young man whose name i can’t remember, this one.
Check out hae in in something in the rain.
I dropped Hometown ChaCha after a few episodes as the lead couple wasn’t working for me. Male chracter was smarmy and unappealing and I couldn’t feel any chemistry between the leads.
I read the synopsis for this drama and I like the idea of your mum’s best friend’s son who is the golden boy and is always comparing her own child to. I think most people can relate to that annoying experience. But the female lead character returning back to her home town from the city trope is so overdone. Kdramas seem to LOVE this trope of city girl moving back to the country. I may still give this try for Jung So Min though.
I dropped it half way. I thought he was too aloof and I just didn’t feel any chemistry. I simply didn’t care if they got together or not.
I dropped Hometown Cha Cha Cha too bc I couldn’t get into the female lead. I just don’t find her attractive and I didn’t think she had chemistry with the male lead.
Attractiveness is subjective but lack of chemistry? That’s not the female lead’s issue alone in general. And most definitely not when the female lead is Shin Min Ah – the chemistry goddess.
Similar to other commenters, I’ve never been able to get into Cha Cha Cha. SOM did so well in Alchemy of Soul I that even overshadowed the FL of AoS II. That role was a tough one to play but she nailed it and I’m pretty fond of her thanks to her great performance with Lee Jae Wook.
As to JHI, I somehow feel that he’s kinda typecast? He gave me the same aura and vibe in 3 dramas.
Jung Hae In has done both melodrama (Something in the Rain, One Spring Night and A Piece of Your Mind) and genre drama (DP seasons 1 & 2, Snowdrop and Connect, all action-dramas). He used to be typecasted but not anymore.
I’m so excited for this incoming drama of #JungSoMin LoveNextDoor. JSM always nailed every performance she had in every dramas and movies just like her recent movie #LoveReset. She is really a great actress.
My two favorites! I even wish they’d hook up and date! Both beautiful, and of age to date. Really 🙂
Cha cha cha did nothing to me. My fave drama by JHI on Netflix that I’ve watched umpt times is One Spring Night. I hope this one will have the same feel. I’m excited!
I didn’t watch Cha Cha Cha or previous writer’s works, but I watched The smile has left your eyes with the same director and Jung So Min, and this was good. Jung So Min was good, some director’s interview was interesting, the way he described character’s emotions he wanted to show and complimented JSM acting skills. So after first news about JSM and director tandem working together again I started to wait this drama. Their names is enough for me to think I will enjoy watching Love next door.
What about JHI, didn’t watch his dramas so can’t say anything about him, except I’m a little doubt about their couple’s chemistry.
The Smile has left your eyes was absolutely beautifully filmed. Hoping for the same here.
I have problems with Jung hae in being promoted at this time, considering the scandal that is being investigated. I do not feel that he is an exceptional actor, but has had the supporting actors that have carried him. I feel the instant fame and push by his PR team to portray him as a young boy instead of being a man of 36 years is appalling. Let’s have some decency here!
I will feel bad if the Jungs do not hook up. I love them both so much. I am excited, and rooting for them. Perfect much. Can’t wait 👏
Jung So Min was one of the reasons I startet watching K dramas. The other was Jung Hae In in Something In the Rain. JSM dominates every scene she is in, cannot stop looking at her. I have seen the first season of AOS maybe 15 times but season 2 only once. JSM was AOS. She shines. Another actress with similar screen presence is Kim Go Eun. Whenever she is on screen I see only her. Her beauty and talent are so underrated by the Korean public. I am a foreigners and I find Korean beauty standards strange. Uniqueness is not praised, everyone is supposed to look the same. Men are extremely feminine and female leads all have the same face basically. Women like JSM and KGE are not seen as beautiful enough. I totally disagree. These two actresses are both extremely talented and beautiful.
