While there aren’t as many K-dramas being produced as before and frankly most are just not that interesting to me, I am fully intending to watch SBS drama The Judge From Hell but just haven’t had the time to start yet. So it’s a relief to hear the drama with strong word of mouth and even better progressively increasing ratings. Starring Park Shin Hye as a demon inhabiting the body of a mortal judge to mete out punishment with Kim Jae Young as a cop that gets pulled into her orchestrations, the drama started with 6.8% rating and has risen to now double digits and doubling the premiere ratings to 13.1%. SBS has been making the Fri-Sat spot its tentpole after drama viewership changed over time from the formerly premier time slot of Wed-Thurs and it’s great seeing the network produce a drama with a cast and story that brings in more viewers again.
I love it and I think PSH is great in it.
Way back when you first talked about it there were so many negative Nellie’s about her and it and I am glad it has proved them wrong.

I love it. I started watching it this Wednesday, meaning to watch one episode every few days, but I enjoyed the first 2 episodes so much that I am marathoning the remaining available episodes and will anticipate the rest.
And most highly rated dramas aren’t overhyped romcoms. It started with Connection, then move on to Good Partner and now Judge from Hell. I am sure The Fiery Priest 2 will continue this trend in November later
I agree!!!
The comedy and the chemistry are what’s keeping me glued.
Psh is a hoot here, her facial expressions are on point. LOL.
There is bickering, the tension, angst and other stuff that makes a couple fun to watch. I love them.
I’m loving this drama and Park Shin Hye is hilarious ins it. I’ve been rewatching scenes while I wait for the next episode.
I was so excited to see PSH taking on a darker role. So I’m glad the drama is doing well. Sadly, I’ll have to figure out a way to watch this as I no longer have Disney+ subscription. Oh well, I’ll just rewatch Dr. Slump, PSH did very well in it. Between her & Park Hyung Sik, she was the better actor/actress.
Hulu uploads the previous week episodes on Wednesday.
I’m loving it!
The Judge From hell is definitely so much better than I thought it’d be. So far, it has surpassed all my expectations.
I’m enjoying the main plots and sub-plots. The characters and the actors are doing amazing.
There are flaws but nothing bothers me too much.
PSH’s acting in here is being phenomenal. I can see she is enjoying the character and all the challenges the characters makes her go through.
I’m sure she got better acting teachers or something because in Dr Slump her acting was much better than most of her works and in The Judge Of Hell she is kicking butts with her acting.
I liked the beginning. But now, it’s repetitive. I don’t find her punishing scenes funny. Their bantering was fun but now, he wants to stop her because she’s a murder, so not fun anymore.
I think you might change your mind. Their banter continues and it looks like he will help her out.
The punishing scenes are not mean to be funny from the start so I never expected them to be like you did expect. It’s not a pure romantic comedy. I thought the trailers and other materials shows they would enter and touch other genres as well including gory, violence, dark humour, thriller, suspense and etc so I was already expecting those.
Perhaps I’ve a very dark and evil state of mind towards criminals so the punishments are even “weak” to me. Criminals deserve so much worse than what she does to them.
Wow! This looks exciting. I’m watching KMD’s drama, Shooting Stars and like him there a lot along with the FL. He’s a new face to me. But I already like him enough to watch other dramas that cast him. This one costarring with PSH is one of my favorite genres. The good reviews and ratings about this new drama just came at the right time. It’s been a bit quiet and boring without much interesting to watch for a while. I’ll pick this up after wrapping up Shooting Stars.
This drama really suits her, she’s so perfect as justitia, she can get the comedy and revenge get across. Never thought I would praise psh, but she is really great in this
one thing is for sure, Park Shin Hye is making her comeback in style, and with a drama that’s being sold mainly on her name so its success really is to her credit – none of that ‘relegated to lower-profile projects/no romance just because she’s married with a baby’ usual k-ent stuff for her.
You are right to say, this drama’s marketing from start was in her name.
I have a soft spot for PSH perhaps because she managed to stay in the field since years and i began my dramaland journey since almost 2 decades . I respect her but i never clicked with her acting BUT this role suits her, she seems to enjoy greatly to play it . The drama is enjoyable but as someone said the punishing scenes aren’t funny . It might quench the desire of the ones who seek vengeance but it’s not justice . Justice should be made to help the family, friends of the victims to feel a kind of comfort and peace which is not what the character of Justice does in this drama . But i recommend it .
I understand you…just like YangZi for me…I respect how she last so long in this industry…I cannot be said to be her fan as I dont watch many of her recent dramas. But still respect her…I feel the same for Park Shin Hye.
Glad to see PSH come back with a strong female centric drama. Only watched the first 2ps and I really like it. Hopefully the quality stays the same until the end.
