Versatile Male Lead Park Sung Hoon Transforms Once Again in First Look at His Role in Squid Game 2 as Netizens Think Another Cult Role is in the Works

This weekend the promos for Squid Game 2 started rolling out and it’s certainly going to be a mega to astronomical hit depending on how good it is. There is a huge big name cast but one member is getting additional buzz thanks to a hilarious new look in the drama. Park Sung Hoon debuted what is best described as very well conditioned and coiffed shoulder length bob with bangs, taking a ladies look and looking quite fascinating IMO. K-netizens are calling him the actor without a name in that he’s best known for the names of his fan favorite characters and roles – namely Jeon Jae Joon in The Glory and his role as the second female lead’s older brother Jang Go Rae in The Only One. It’s a testament that he becomes the character, and honestly if his character wasn’t so poorly written with a wafer thin motivation in Queen of Tears he would definitely get another character name buzz for that performance. He took a one line description “be shifty, have mommy issues, and is secretly obsessed with the female lead” and did way more with it.

  1. He’s such a freakin talented actor and I’m such a huge fan of his. He’s a true chameleon and hilariously, I didn’t even recognize him the first time I watched the trailer.

I haven’t seen SG, but I’ll watch it in time for the S2. There’s a bunch of actors I really like here – IWS, LBH, PSH etc so I’m giving it a shot despite not being interested in this genre.

  2. Excited to know what Park Sung Hoon’s role will be! His character description is one of those kept hidden for now. He’s a fantastic actor so I hope he gets a lot more love in this drama. I felt for him when he said to hate the character and not to hate him during the thanksgiving dinner for QOT.

  3. I dropped the first season, I just don’t get what people see in it. Especially to the degree of so going crazy over it. But to each their own, I hope fans like season 2, that’s always a tough one.

  4. He is versatile. I remember seeing him in another drama after watching The Glory and did not recognize that he was the bad guy from there.

  5. PSH is a genius actor. He’s done some of the most versatile roles and I always look forward to projects his name is attached to.

  6. He weren’t poorly written in the QOT, his character had a most detailed information about him among all others. And every part of his crazy actions can be explained. It’s just his character wasn’t likeable and was pathetic in his obsession, not as charismatic badass evil from The Glory. And such, somehow “cool” type of villains the most remarkable for audience

  7. He deserved at least Baeksang nomination, not only for QOT, but for all 2023-2024 works. He acted in 5 dramas, and all different characters.
He said he filmed in Squid game 2 at the same time he filmed in QOT, and yet just by photo the difference between these characters pretty noticeable.
I’m somehow a little proud I’m his fan since 2019 year and Psychopath diary.
I remember how he played support character in Jealousy Incarnate with 1 minute screentime, and it’s so good he getting recognition. Wish to him more main lead roles with interesting characters
