First Look at Period C-drama Chasing Dreams with Chen Zhe Yuan and Zhang Jing Yi Formerly Titled Flower in Novoland

There is a title change but the same confirmed leads as filming kicks off for period C-drama Chasing Dreams (梦花廷 Meng Hua Ting), formerly Flower in Novoland. The leads are Chen Zhe Yuan, Zhang Jing Yi, and Liang Yong Qi, and is the story of a blind princess and her fated romance with the prince of a kingdom. So far the posters are decent but it’s just for the costume fitting as the drama just started filming so I’ll keep my mind open for this pairing and how the drama looks when more promos drop.

    • Lately I’m thinking the wigs though just don’t suit him. They don’t compliment his face at all. Why don’t they try to make that work? Not disagreeing with you how he might not suit costume dramas though. The main actress seems to suit the one she is wearing though. Whether her acting does is a whole other issue.

    • Yeah I have no idea why she’ll take this. Especially when Chen Xiaoyun and Xu Kaicheng’s pairing was already popular in Novoland Pearl Eclipse.

  1. She looks like Ju Jing Yi with all the dangly styling. Must have attendants, hard for a blind person to put all those ornaments on her hair symmetrically.

  2. I think historical dramas are not his forte. He should follow the route like Lin Yi who only does modern dramas.

I also think Zhang Jing Yi is overrated. Her acting is not even good, just overhyped with high-profile projects thanks to her strong backers.

    • I dont think there is much money in modern dramas…the top sponsorships are often period dramas… if he wants to be a top idol, he has to do period dramas.

      • Isn’t Lin Yi doing well enough without a historical drama in his filmography? I think he will be fine focusing on things he’s good at.
Lin Yi, Chen Zhe Yuan and also Hu Yitian are guys who should only stick with modern dramas. There’s nothing wrong with that imo.

    • I did see online that Lin Yi was in at least one historical drama. But it was in 2021. And it doesn’t appear like he has been in one since. So you’re probably right. He knows his strengths are better suited for modern drama.

      • yeah after his period drama, lot of people mocked him for looking like terracotta warriors. Anyway it was styling problems. But I prefer people with slender and tall body in modern drama

  3. Is it just me, or do all the actors faces look really flat? In comparison, the actresses at least have some hints of blush to liven up their face slightly.

  4. I’m amazed at how harsh a lot of you are on these actors. You haven’t even seen the drama yet and you’re already pissing all over it.
