Production Disbanded on Set of C-drama Almost Lover After Female Lead Zhao Lu Si’s Hospitalization
It’s been a few days now since news broke that C-actress Zhao Lu Si was very ill and was admitted to the hospital. But from the set of her currently filming C-drama Almost Lover, the rumor is that she’s been gone from the production since 10 days prior to that. Now with her hospitalization, the production has shut down and the cast and crew disbanded, which makes it harder for this drama to be finished. Her fans are claiming the drama is the reason for her health issues, that the script she signed up for changed during filming and the production refused to address her concerns and requests. Her friend almost went public saying that Zhao Lu Si when she first started out years ago was once berated and screamed at by her agency president for being fat and untalented for two hours which left her shaken and distraught. Other rumors claim she does not want to film Almost Lover or stay with her agency and this is her way of getting out of it.
Such a pity for a very talented actress. Wish her a speedy recovery!
She looks terrible. This explains a lot about the crazy weight loss. Even Zeng Li went to visit her and helped carry her into/out of bed at the hospital. It sounds like she’s been enduring for at least 5 years now. I hope she recovers soon and also somehow gets away that horrible person that was abusing her. Some times people who smile the brightest are just wearing a mask to hide their sadness.
That is soo sad… reminds me of Robin Williams – once known as the funniest man in the world but privately suffered severe depression.

2024年才开始出现频繁干呕 眩晕 关节疼 颈椎疼等等明显躯体化症状和过敏的加重 当时以为是吃了过敏靶向药正常副作用导致的
在小时候因为都说我是一无是处的花瓶 校外补习的时候在老师宿舍挨了打 我当时认为学习不好挨打是对的 不敢说 因为“任何事情都要从自己身上找原因”

@Somebody, to be honest…I did not expect her to be well enough to post such a long post when she is so unwell. She has time to read what is going online? she should just be sleeping and resting, not going online and get disturbed.
Addressing mental health is important but she should focus on her health first. That is my opinion.
It’s been about two weeks that she was hospitalized, her body shut down but her mind and brain didn’t. If anything she’s probably filled with worry and doesn’t have an outlet since she’s just in her room. You don’t know what anyone is going through to say all these and exactly why a lot of depressed people choose to hide what they’re truly feeling because of all the judgment they face.
@HL, you’re being judgmental again. Sorry no offense! No one except for her medial teams is qualified to assess her conditions and doubt about her daily activities. Patient with severe illness could appear doing completely fine one moment and then collapse next moment. My own cousin with cancer is one example. He chatted with me almost everyday even talking about serious business like politics. Then I got the sad news that he passed away at emergency next day. So, be nice, be more empathetic, and try your best away from obnoxious C-ent fan circles gossiping much ado about nothing decent LMAO! Sorry for being blunt.

You are free and can be brave to do so. I also realized that I have been wronged and it is unfair. I have heard too many terrible stories. I think it is wrong regardless of profession, age, or gender If we are silenced without getting help, and the perpetrators continue to intensify. It is outrageous to force scars open up to just prove that I’m not “unable to let go”, “too weak to bear”, nor “unsatisfied.” But no matter what the cause of the trauma is, no one other than doctors is qualified to evaluate whether that incident is serious or not, or whether it can be the cause of the illness.
I became depressed in 2019. “Don’t make a fuss.” “Think positively and everything will be fine.” I also thought I was too fussy and too sensitive, so I did not pay attention to my mental issues.
In 2021, I felt like there were bugs crawling on my body, and the feeling of being pricked by needles was accompanied by allergies. I went to the hospital to get shots and medication, but the symptoms did not go away. Then I saw a psychiatrist and started treatment to relieve stress.
In 2023, I had several conditions back to back in a short period, including pneumonia, emphysema, pityriasis rosea, urticaria, waking up with a start and night sweats, and neurological hearing loss, besides receiving various news of the death and cancer of relatives. But these events were more significant outweighing my own feelings, causing me to continue to ignore my mental state.
In 2024, I began to have somatization symptoms such as frequent retching, dizziness, joint pain, and cervical pain. My allergies also got worse. At that time, I thought it was caused by the normal side effects of taking allergy targeted drugs.
When I was a child, I was beaten in the teacher’s dormitory during extracurricular tutoring because everyone said I was a useless vase. I thought I deserved to be beaten up for poor academic performance at that time, and I didn’t dare to speak up because “it should be my problems for anything.”
I was beaten again when I grew up. I thought it was indeed my fault that I didn’t get audition. I didn’t dare to make a fuss. I just wanted to run away. I was used to handling my own business by myself. I was not used to seeking help from anyone else. Later, because my work was recognized, I had the courage to say goodbye thanks to the confidence everyone had given me. In the end, she took away a huge “breakup fee” and was willing to stop all the gossips about me “crying, making a fuss, and hanging myself”. I hope, with the doctors’ note, that other actors subjected to verbal and physical abuse will also get help. Depression is such an insidious disease. It’s always a hidden thing, like alcoholism, and never addressed until the sick person faces it. I hope her friends and loved ones keep supporting her at this time.
I wish her a speedy recovery. But have to say though, C-netz’s general responses to her aren’t positive. This could be due to her having a negative image from her past scandals (pressing likes on negative posts about other celebrities), her fans’ bad behavior of shitting on all her popular co-stars, and the current bombardment of paid hot searches. People don’t understand why her fans kept attacking and demanding from the current agency when it was her former agency who abused her, and also attacking the drama production crew for supposedly neglecting ZLS’s health when this should be the job of ZLS and her team. Especially now that the drama production has shut down, the production crew will be suffering losses.
As much as I sympathize with ZLS for her current health situation, I have to say it isn’t looking good for her career with how things are going now. It’s going to be like Han So Hee’s case, advertisers and investors are going to be wary of investing in her in future, other actors may also avoid working with her in case the project gets cancelled halfway again.
It’s a depressing and messy situation right now but it definitely looks like this drama is stalled for the coming months. Based on how Cdrama function it probably means cast and crew are disbanded and won’t be able to readjust their schedules for a long time. Not sure why they haven’t released an official statement yet. It seems like no one from Almost Lover’s cast and crew come out to offer her words of support at all, a really dodgy situation. ZLS now only has one un-aired drama in her portfolio left, there’s going to be a very long period of absence from the drama scene after she recovers.
@Lilith, you said what I had in my mind today too… I read about the attacking comments towards her current agency, which I found odd as it was her previous agency that abused her. In fact, she is close to her current manager.
I too feel sorry for her current situation but she really need to learn to pace herself and look after her health more. She need to understand her body’s needs more. It’s a really weird situation all around. Every action ZLS, her friends, her agency and her fans has taken so far, is damaging her career further. Especially her fans. I read somewhere fans were mad at the agency because they tried to keep it under wraps and kept pushing her to work. They didn’t come out to make a statement until a photo of her in a wheel chair was leaked. They also said she hasn’t been feeling well for days but the filming never stopped until she collapsed. Even after she was admitted to the hospital, they were still trying to plan some kind of fan event in early January. I’m not a fan of hers, but I do think if those things were true, I’d be upset at the agency too. And lets be honest, entertainment agencies don’t truly care about their artists, everyone is just a cash cow.
There were also rumors about constant script changes from the production, which on the other hand, I feel like is probably a common occurrence. I don’t know what would be considered excessive. They have to halt filming unless they decide to just replace her. It’s not like she can go back to work in her condition. I don’t think most people voluntarily decide to spend Christmas and New Year’s in the hospital. She’s pushed herself for years now and filmed multiple dramas each year without skipping a beat. She deserves a break.
Is it cheaper to replace her or cancel the production completely? It doesn’t seem like any filming has happened in the last 10-12 days which suggests the staff has been disbanded. Has the ML actor said anything? Or any of the supporting stars? Or has everyone already moved onto new projects?
@Soph Can the agency and production team really push someone to continue filming if they aren’t well? When you are unwell, surely you won’t look good on camera and will cause even more delay in filming as scenes have to be retaken over and over again. Actors who have made it to liuliang status should have more bargaining power over their agency unless the agency have some dirt on them. It’s a;sp difficult for me to buy into the idea that her agency is slaving her when many of her photos online show her living luxuriously and dressed in Hermes. I do agree she deserves a break, but probably not with the constant hot searches.
@Lilith, I’m not saying they’re holding a gun to her head, but physical force isn’t the only way to force someone to do things. If she’s in as mentally a weak state as she claims to be with both anxiety and depression, yes, I do believe she can be verbally coerced into continuing to try to power through filming or threatened with contract breach. I did think she looked pretty pale in some of her more recent pictures, but then they just cake the make up on, which I have thought looked heavy/weird for a while now. Honestly, she’s not the first to collapse on a job, many people in the real world do too.

In her post she said this is her “first and last” statement. It seems like she wants to put it to bed too. I don’t get all these hyper critical takes on her. When she does make a personal statement, she’s labeled as attention seeking. I’m sure she’s no saint or perfect herself (I’ve read about her slippery fingers amongst other things). At the end of the day, health is more important than fame or money. I default to giving people the benefit of the doubt, so I do hope that it is her last statement and she just focuses on recovering.
Modern romance dramas are relatively easy because less makeup and prep work and no action scenes. Didn’t she also go to some concert not too long ago? Obviously the drama production allows her to take time off for leisure and probably endorsement activities too. I find it hard to believe that they wouldn’t let her go check out any medical issues.
Every actor and actress go through periods when they have to work long hours. If her “work” is hard, think about the people who have to prep everything ahead of time and clean up after each long day of shooting, just so someone like her can step in for a few minutes to shoot her scenes and go back to the comfort of her trailer. Let’s not forget the infamous picture of her getting shoes put on by her assistant while she sits there playing with her dog on set, or the one where she spits out something and puts it into the hands of her assistant’s bare hand, or the one where she’s walking and an assistant is walking alongside holding her phone in front of her face so she can walk and read at the same time. Honestly, all this victim playing by her fans is really laughable.
Another thing, she had a long break before shooting her pearl girl drama (around 8 months from spring to fall of 2023) because that production had such a hard time finding a male lead willing to co-star with her (so you can’t say she’s been filming multiple dramas each year without skipping a beat). But don’t worry, she won’t have problems being too overworked here on out because she’s going to have an even harder time finding drama productions and co-stars wanting to be associated with her.

I think those who appreciate and like ZLS as an actress hope for a full recovery soon and those who already dislike her won’t have sincere wishes for her to have a recovery but just play diplomatic games by mouth. There are plenty of track records on this blogging site to tell that who visiting this site always gaslighted her and who else have positive feedback about her most of the time. Basically, I’m seeing consistent online behavior patterns on this site among fans regarding certain celebrities. People who draw plenty of question marks around ZLS’ hospitalization are those who don’t have positive things to say about her in the past.

After her shenanigans from the last couple of days, netizen’s are now looking at these claims of “health issues” with a grain of salt. For one thing, ZLS supposedly went to the hospital on the 18th, but someone posted on the 19th that she did nails for ZLS (on the 19th). Apparently this person has since taken down her post (most likely under duress from ZLS team) because it brings up questions of why someone hospitalized and very sick is getting their nails done.
In a matter of days, she miraculously went from not being able to talk or walk, to laughing and hanging out with friends for new years eve, with a scrumptious seafood feast in the background (all pictures posted by herself). There is a photo of her holding a spoon awkwardly with her left hand (implying motor issues) yet there is also a photo of her in a wheelchair holding her dog with her left arm. There is a picture of her in a wheelchair with her head drooping, yet there is another picture of her in the exact same outfit and in the same wheelchair smiling widely with both her hands up in a double peace sign. There is a gif that shows her walking awkwardly, but her friend is behind her laughing and despite being sick and weak, she’s wearing fashionable tights with a nicely matched dress and a matching bag. People are questioning how or why she’s putting on such tight fitting clothes with her weak motor skills.
I don’t have time to name them all, but there are many more holes in this charade that she’s forced on everyone. She’s taken the top of the hot search list hostage for almost a week now, grabbing attention from other important topics like the woman who was domestically abused and hit by her husband 16 times. This is not someone who deserves anyone’s sympathy, because all the negativity towards her are brought on by herself.

– [ ] Is she ready to pay all the accumulated penalties that will file up bec she can no longer fill the existing agreements or pay the cost incurred due to delay? Unless she will sue the production, she still have to go back filming.

Those questions above are the reality of her situation right now.
This choreographed farce although has positive effects (her fandom will be more stronger, her number of fans exponentially increased out of sympathy of her ‘situation’), the disadvantages will still outweigh any advantages she gained.
The woman could barely walk and talk (from what I can see), so do you think she could think about all these points so quickly? Someone is pushing the buttons (turning her Weibo on and off) and doing all this online chaos but I don’t think it is her right now.
If it was aphasia, her body is in pain. If it’s mental depression, her mind is not 100% and she isn’t in charge of her life right now. Whoever is behind this is making weird decisions.

During filming, no one is holding a gun against her, she got awfully sick bec she opted to proceed filming even though she claimed she’s already not feeling well. She got her own studio that operates under her, right? A studio that solely focus on her, manage her schedule and everything about her career, her parents and her friends were also with her during filming so why she still ended in that ‘state’ was bec of ZLS poor judgement of her own condition. And again if ZLS and her fans think that c-ent is harmful for her then there’s always the option to leave permanently. Why blame the filming crew? Why blame her new agency? Everyone is working hard to earn their keep!

Honestly, I agree with you. She’s had her fair share of rest and hopefully she continues to make use of just resting peacefully with no news and internet for as many months as she can, but what’s the aftermath going to be now? Sometimes, it’s not easy for these celebrities to just halt projects especially when they just started working unless she slowly deviates from working too much like jumping from projects to projects. I’m sure these celebrities are afraid of not having work if they don’t work hard now, but when she’s mentally sick like this, she needs it. From other commentors, seems like there’s also rumor issues with her current agency too so who will back her up if not them? Isn’t that why you have an agency? I’m pretty sure they are busy themselves with answering questions about her sickness and her missed work. Shoo, they might just throw her under the bus if things get out of control or they’re pressured.
She isn’t well and she needs to take an extended break to truly recover and have the public forget about this. She and her friends need to be quiet, the more she puts out, the more attention seeking she appears to Netizens. No production will risk hiring her in the near future. ZLS needs to rest, do theraphy (physical and mental) and truely heal for at least 7 months if she really is sick instead of doing a live reality show where she and her friends play a tortured Jesus and the fandom are the disciples bullying everyone while preaching her holy gospel.
I just found out on X that Yu Zheng is saying on Weibo that he called to ZLS’s personal phone and chatted with her for 1 hour. The trash is really claiming ZLS is fine enough to have 1 hour of chat with him. ZLS’s fandom have truely lost their minds. They’re attacking Yu Zheng who is truely a walking trash on earth but he have direct access to ZLS unrestricted besides he just became another character for ZLS’s drama for his own fun. I find it’s pretty interesting that ZLS have her phone very close to her at all times to any calls wanting to speak to her directly, she did not interrupt the call or at least handed the phone to someone else to entertain the guy.
as someone who’s spent a week at the hospital once, I also had my phone very close to me because it’s very boring being at the hospital all day. all I did was scroll videos, social media, and articles while watching tv/drama in the background on my ipad. why is the fact that she has her phone close to her so interesting? he’s called her disrespectful once for not saving his contact info or something so maybe she’s trying not to get on his bad side again. she can just put him on speaker and let him yammer away for an hour, that’s what I do when my mom calls to nag me about things. you’re also just taking what he said at face value when he’s known to exaggerate. you all always have something to nitpick on about with her.
ZLS’s friends claim she cant speak well and struggles too much to chat. Friends of ZLS have posted video where ZLS’s motore skills were a huge struggle and cant hold well to utensils like a fork.

@Xuali why does she or her friends need to release her private medical records? i don’t know what is the everything else your referring to. you also have no right to see that. just because she didn’t share it, it’s staged? have you heard of innocent until proven guilty? how does putting a phone on speaker require her to be able to hold it like a utensil or fork? they said she showed signs of aphasia, but that doesn’t mean she can’t talk at all. maybe it took an hour because it took her a long time to get the words out? why does it even matter to you? focus on your own life rather than trying to sow negativity against someone who doesnt even know you exist. your obviously an anti if your taking everything YZ says as gospel like that guy doesn’t exaggerate all the time anyway.
It’s sad to see in her such a state. She only just turned 26! I’m glad she found the will to be open about her situation even though this sort of showing-what’s-really-behind-the-curtain sort of thing will get the industry feeling resentful and the audience too (since no one wants to think about the abuses their fave actors are enduring while watching dramas for escapism). She is finally putting her health and safety first even if it means jeopardizing her career. It isn’t easy since once you become famous and start leading projects, you have some people’s livelihoods dependent on you. But if you’re suddenly dead, you can’t be much help to them either.
I do hope she can and will come back after she gets the much-needed recovery.

First off, a lot of progress can be made within a week of being hospitalized. Just because she supposedly couldn’t walk or talk much at first, doesn’t mean she’s become an invalid and will remain so for a prolonged period of time. If you were very sick today for the next three days maybe you’re down, and the next I see you next week you’re okay or seem so, should I doubt your claims then? For Yuzheng to call her and say she seems fine now, well that’s now. Totally a different scenario. Depression and mental health is such a taboo topic in China. I don’t think she would risk her (one of) top status lightly, yes she is among the top, she has most advertisements among her contemporaries, don’t belittle her accomplishments just because she is not your fave.
