Choi Woo Shik and Jung So Min Confirmed for SBS Romance K-drama Will You Marry Me
So the earlier casting rumors have come true and K-ent is reporting that Jung So Min and Choi Woo Shik will be partnering up onscreen for a new rom-com K-drama. It’s title Will You Marry Me and is a fake marriage set up story. What’s funny is that this casting confirmation led one reporter to write an article with the headline that Choi Woo Shik and Jung So Min are getting married…….before saying in the body of the article that it’s in a K-drama. Good job with the click bait 10 Asia lol. All joking aside, I am thrilled for this pairing but after my sky high expectations with Love Next Door I want to keep my excitement much lower this time around.
My favourite trope but without my favourite actors. Still try to watch tho
i hope it’s not LND 2.0 lol
I love CWS in a rom com and it seems like he’s doing that more and more at this stage of his career. Yay! On the other hand, I think LND killed the part of me that thinks JSM can do no wrong. She’s still a good actress but has glaring limitations and I’m not sure I could palate another character like that again no matter who her costar. Hopefully she chose a character more suited for her strengths.
Off the topic but jun so min or similar type actress in his age group or younger are just doing safe zone commercial type drama not challenge there skill even though they are popular but I only find two k-actress kim tae ri and park eun bin that can outshine and can dominate will female centric drama they don’t need any famous actor will which similar to Jun ji hyun but only difference his there popularity,it is not much as it should be
Can’t really blame these actresses if that’s all they get offered no? Kim Tae-ri and Park Eun-bin can afford to be choosy because they’re recently still drawing viewers, but most actresses don’t. And the sad part is that majority of drama productions in this climate will either be fluff or outright crap, and that is all that is available to most actresses.
I just wonder if your keyboard only has comma available for proper punctuation. Nonetheless, I got your point. It’s amazing! LOL.
The story sounds very bland and probably has been done countless time before – fake marriage etc
I like Jung so min n also enjoyed love next door. I am not sure why a lot of people don’t like it probably because it was overhyped? Anyway I wish Jsm tried another genre.
She did do Alchemy of souls..which was different.
JSM was great in AoS I to the extent that she got a cult following her and whining about the FL replacing her in the sequel. LOL.
She always had the cult following around her ever since Playful Kiss. The fandom just grew larger because she had been in more popular productions with media mileage. 30 Days and LND had Kang Ha Neul and Jung Hae In, who are media darlings. And AOS is a Hong Sisters drama. That’s why she needs to be with popular actors/dramas. She provides a great buzz just look at when she gets casted in a drama, she would get hundreds of comments in X/Facebook/Tiktok.
Like both actors , but i’d like to see Jung So Min in something different . Her last drama was a rom com and i fear that she will be typecasted as many other actresses . It seems that only a few get challenging offers as Park Eun Bin, Kim Go Eun, … sometimes playing a co lead role as Nam Ji hyun in Good partner, or Han Ye ri in a small role in Doubt , …can be a good thing . The story seems cliché but i’m in , just hope that it will not be as Love next door which could have been made in 12 episodes .
Not a fan of either actors but I like the fake / contract marriage trope. It depends highly on the writer PD for me.
The title sounds so uninteresting. JSM did a great job in fantasy thriller, Alchemy of Souls I. She can act. Rom com may be easier for actors but actually is hard for a writer to deliver novice ideas. I have been a bit tired of this genre thanks to abused concepts/tropes.
@Somebody, agree , most of rookie international viewers like this genre but for the ones who are watching it since years, a rom com has to be well made with something new to appeal longtime viewers . Around me , the ones who saw me as an alien 15 years ago are now binge watching non stop Rom com as King the land, Love next door,…and loving it . I’m aware that actresses are lucky to continue to get lead roles when others are struggling but it’s sad because they can’t show all their acting range . The same roles for the same actresses .Park Eun bin could show another side with Attorney Woo , Song Hye Kyo with Glory, …but it’s about the same in Hollywood .
Haha you cracked me up saying those saw you as an alien now binge watching rom com non stop. I had different Kdrama experience perhaps from the majority of Kdrama fans. It was historical, fantasy, and action genres drawing me near Kdrama land, e.g., Faith, City Hunter, IIjimae, and Moon Embracing the Sun etc. Princess Hours was one exception of rom com that I enjoyed without fast forwarding. Oh perhaps adding My Name Is Kim Sam Soon. I don’t recall any other rom coms that I had so much fun watching though. I watched popular Secret Garden but skipped many scenes of body swap. Body swap between different genders has forever been a really cringing concept to me.
While I’m still not the one for rom com, I have enjoyed a few recently, e.g., Business Proposal and the Heirs. Yes the Heirs! LOL. I never expected to have enjoyed a school romance this much. Ppl may say the Heirs cheesy but somehow each main character in this excessively childish drama has very unique presence in each of their own ways so that it’s hard to not remember these characters. And I found many in the supporting cast become main leads for many dramas later on. No wonder the drama is a hit cuz of so many impressive beneficiaries (pun intended LOL) of one drama alone.
It took Song Hye Kyo to reach her 40s to play non romance role like The Glory
The original Korean title sounds like “Would You Marry Me?” and it got me thinking if it’s formed of the main characters’ names, and it is! Male lead is Woo-joo and female lead is Me-ri 😉
I looked up the drama and it’s penned by the scriptwriter of “Cunning Single Lady” and it’s about a man and a woman who enter contract marriage for 90 says to win a house for newlyweds.
This site likes to undermine actresses as if Choi Woo Shik really has high ratings drama or can be seen as “popular’
@SS, that’s what i meant SHK has to wait 2 decades to act in something different, Park Eun bin about 10 years before Extraordinary Attorney Woo… perhaps i’m wrong, but i think that many actresses as Jung So Min who are in the field since 15 years would like to challenge themselves ,but some may like to stay in their comfort zone which i also respect .But as i said, leading dramas is already great as many good actresses can’t even do that !
@Somebody, i like to watch good rom com but my favorite genre are trillers, suspense, …or mixed themes .
