Joo Ji Hoon and Kim Tae Ri Wins Television Category Best Acting Awards at the 2025 Baeksang with When Life Gives You Tangerines Taking Home Best Drama — 10 Comments

  1. Congrats to all the winners!

There were some nominations I also thought would win but nonetheless, these are all deserved.

Hahaha I didn’t expect Culinary Class Wars to be Daesang initially because I was thinking it would be a drama that would take it. I enjoyed the challenges of that show and know it did a lot to revitalize the declining K restaurant cuisine. It was fun watching youtube videos after the show to see how all the chefs, even those that didn’t make the top 8 were doing so well.

Kim Hye Yoon and Kim Go Eun’s gowns were my favorite of the night. Glad Tae Ri changed into her second pink number with a statement necklace piece because it was very flattering on her. The first dress on the red carpet looks like a bejeweled version of her first Baeksang win in 2022. Lol I had a gut feel when she changed dresses that she might be best actress because she was the only one that night with an outfit change. I still feel sad for IU but I also love Tae Ri. IU’s time to receive a Baeksang Best Actress win will come.

    • I believe that Kim Taeri changed outfits to keep two of her sponsors happy. The first outfit is apparently custom Prada (she’s a Global Ambassador), and the second dress was to show off the bling-bling necklace from Golden Dew jewellery (new endorsement).

I don’t think the actors know beforehand if they’ll be winning a prize (unlike the Apan Star Awards). While watching the broadcast, I suspected that she might win something because they featured her twice during the show (child photos part and the segment with the child actors), which would’ve been puzzling if she wasn’t going to be a winner.

The Baeksang nominees don’t know who’s going to win, so everyone has to turn up, which is unlike the Apan Star Awards where only the winners attend. When Kim Taeri was featured in two segments during the broadcast (child photos part and the feature with the child actors), I had a strong feeling that she’d win an award because it would’ve been awkward otherwise. I’m so happy that Taeri’s hard work over the last three years has been formally recognised.

      • Apologies for the two sets of comments. I didn’t think that the first set were posted after refreshing the site multiple times, so I commented again.

  2. I guess the competition wasn’t that fierce. Joo ji hoon and Kim tae ri were great in their respective dramas but tbh they’ve had better performances in their past works. Anyway happy for them and super happy for Kim hye yoon, choo young woo and the girl from doubt

  3. Haven’t seen hardly any of the dramas, none of the movies, yet, so hardly in a place to judge but, really enjoyed and was impressed by Choo Young Woo’s performance(s) in The Tale of Lady OK. Lovely Runner’s duo were equally deserving for their popularity award, too. Have only seen a few episodes of Trauma Code, so far and well, while I’m a fan of Ju Ji Hoon, agree with Cnblue lover, he’s had better performances imo, he was coasting in Trauma Code. Though, I guess it was physically demanding, all that action, at his age. Well, probably the stuntman did most of that. Surprised/thought someone else amongst the nominees would have been more impressive in the acting department but, as I haven’t seen them, can’t say.

  4. Yah but IU’s drama still did well at awards so she won big as that will bode well for her acting resume. lol it makes sense that they chose them as popularity award because they were the most hyped for awhile now and I have yet to hear any buzz on any other leads talked about so much since.

  5. Well deserved. All the winners are amazing. Congratulations!!!

Read about certain fandom got tantrums over the result, but it wont look good for their idol tho.

  6. Kdrama has one of the best leagues of supporting cast. I found the acting of these supporting actors fascinating. Kudos to the supporting cast for WLGYT. I already wished the winning of Choo Young Woo when he was just nominated and he did win the the best supporting actor. Both CYW and Choi Dae Hoon deserve the awards. I like WLGYT’s directing better than the script writing. That being said, nice to see WLGYT beat all other nominations in the best drama category. That’s an equivalent recognition of his outstanding direction.

Many fans have been raving about Joo Ji Hoon, yet for me to check out his dramas. Kingdom series may be next to watch since I’m usually not the one for medical drama like this one for which he won the award. JJH is one best example that actors and film makers etc. shouldn’t be all cancelled for missteps they once had in real life. Some crimes are not forgivable from human’s perspectives. But a lot of misconducts violating law or systems shouldn’t be taken like murdering your husband or raping your daughter, e.g., affairs, tax controversies, and illicit substance abuses etc.

Baeksang has credibility in general, unlike many awards for Cdrama that are jokes LOL. I found out many impressive stories and acting in Kdramas that gave me greatest gratification were also the Baeksang winners. Also, I’ve recently been picking dramas to watch based upon Baeksang nominations/winners, and these dramas did give me greater satisfaction compared with other recommendations. Given this newly updated Baeksang list, I’m sure to have fun with Kdrama for a while.
