C-actress Song Zu Er Films First Drama Since Return From Two Year Soft Ban in Tax Investigation with Guest Starring Appearance in Supernatural Period Drama Liao Zhai
The successful return of C-actress Song Zu Er can be a case study for future soft banned stars, but really it’s that all the elements lined up for her. She was deemed not to have committed any tax evasion and her return was paved by having two well made C-dramas ready to airdrop. She’s now back to her first filming since her return, a guest starring appearance in the supernatural period drama Liao Zhai (Strange Tales) adapted from the historical horror/weird/supernatural short stories collected in an anthology. I love her look and realize that due to her tiny face and even tinier features she needs more volume to frame her face to balance it out, which the costume and hair design in her recently finished airing C-drama The Prisoner of Beauty succeeded marvelously it was the first time I thought found her so breathtaking.
I agree with koala. I always thought SZE is pretty. But only pretty like other actresses. But damn the costumes and makeup in TPOB really alleviate her beauty. She is really lucky that all her shelved dramas are good and her acting play a big role in making those dramas better
i am glad she can come back, unfortunately in this business there is a lot of haters but justice and talents are thicker than those evil doers.
She’s a natural beauty (don’t think she had any ps) and that’s what makes her look good in traditional chinese costumes.

My first time watching Song Zuer’s work…omg she’s absolutely captivating and stunning. Her portrayal of Manman in Prisoner of Beauty feels like the role was tailor-made just for her! 😍

Her lines still need a lot of improvement IMO. I have to read subtitles all the time in order to understand her lines as a native Mandarin speaker myself. SZE’s visuals aren’t consistently pleasing to my eyes either across different dramas. I do think she looks pretty in PoB where she got the best visuals of her by far. Nonetheless, her visuals turned me off in the Demon Hunter’s Romance and I dropped the drama because she looked so weirdly unpleasant to me that I just had no power to get over LOL. There, she somehow reminded me of chicken and witch. Sorry no offense! That’s my honest opinion about her styling and visuals in DHR. Based upon these two recent dramas alone, she does need some efforts for styling that can be becoming. I don’t consider her a born and natural beauty though cuz styling makes a huge difference on her. A born beauty will looks effortless beautiful regardless of what’s put on her body, face, or head LOL.

I don’t hate her but just spoke of her general impression on me. I’m different to her although her visuals other than PoB were very distractive TBH. She can act though even if she does need a lot of improvement on her lines.
