Love’s Ambition Becomes 6th C-drama to Break 40% Daily Market Share on Yunhe Ahead of Legend of Zang Hai But Opens with a Mid Rating of 6.5 on Douban
This week is the finale of Love’s Ambition starring Zhao Lu Si and William Chan, for VIP members on Tencent its already done and for the rest of the viewers it will finish in the coming days. The drama is a certified hit for Tencent, breaking all sorts of records in viewership and heat index within the platform. Outside the platform, the drama broke a daily market share of 40% broadcast share hitting 41.7% high, making the 6th drama in history to do so. The others are The Knockout, Joy of Life 2, This Thriving Land, My Heroic Husband, and Legend of Zang Hai. LA slots in at the #5 spot now just ahead of LoZH. The opening Douban ratings are out and is a mid level of 6.5, I thought it could start off at 7.0 but it seems that the drama is addicting and fun to watch but not as strong in quality overall so it’s more popular than critically solid at the end of the day. Still, quite an achievement for an air dropped drama with no promos, a female lead in public dispute with her agency, and a male lead with meh popularity in China.

I’m impressed with ZLS’s massive popularity. Who needs marketing when her fans can move mountains for her. Undeniably the top female actress from the 95ers and this year has achieved more success in dramas than those from other gen. This would really be a good time to capitalise on her success.
I agree… her fans are very supportive and massive.
I honestly thought the rating would be lower since it’s a modern drama, not a historical one. I remember The Prisoner of Beauty also had around a 30k hot index, just like this one, so I didn’t expect their Douban ratings to be so close. The Prisoner of Beauty got 6.4, and Love’s Ambition got around the same too. I actually really liked The Prisoner of Beauty. I still think it’s one of the best dramas of 2025. But you know, people always say Douban is full of both haters and hardcore fans. So honestly, I don’t really care about the rating as long as it’s popular and helps the cast get more attention.
If I’m being truly honest, the male lead is indeed a pretty meh actor. I just can’t ignore the way his hands are moving every time he tries to express himself. I’m still at episode 19 though, so I can’t give my final rating yet on how this one’s going to turn out.
Sounds about right, though I was expecting a 6. The drama quality is neither good nor bad. I can see some people watching it because it’s different than the usual and they find it refreshing and interesting, but also not quite loving it.
I ff-ed most of the time. Couldn’t stand Lusi’s acting. Sorry. She’s indeed pretty. I’ll give it a 5. But then, fans always support their idol. Good for her.
She has a popular internationally… she’s my favourite cent actress of her generation.
People like fast food. This is a “fast food” drama. That’s generous score.
Well, that’s on Lusi, totally. Her co-star has the charisma of a wet towel. To my taste, the drama is a bore, I dropped it.
Her fans are massive ofc. If we talk about the storyline of this drama, nothing spectacular. That rating is actually very generous already given that the story of this drama is nothing new to the audience, acting wise, decent and more like an idol drama.
Lusi nailed her role. I loved the first half and last but middle episodes were too business focused for my liking. She is absolutly pretty and William is charming and the chemistry was top notch. Lusi always get down voted in douban and 6.5 score for a modern Lusi drama is a great achievement. Lusi always had her fans but fans cannot make a drama sucessful. None of her dramas have vieweship below 20mil. But 62 mil is impossible with just fans.
So this is a mid rating of 6.5 for a modern drama but Fated Hearts drama for historical is a good douban rating at 6.5? You’re showing your bias Koala
