Han Ji Min in Discussions to Join Lee Byung Hun in Prestige Thriller K-drama The Koreans
I don’t know if the big budget A-lister prestige K-dramas are still a sure bet after last year saw a few do less than stellar. The biggest disappointment is probably political thriller Polaris (The Tempest) with Jeon Ji Hyun and Kang Dong Won, and production is still going forward with The Koreans a remake of the US series The Americans. Lee Byung Hun has been confirmed as the male lead and the female lead was originally courting Jeon Ji Hyun but she ended up not accepting after the backlash Polaris received from political issues. Now the female lead is in talks with Han Ji Min and if she accepts it’ll be a funny reunion of sorts with Lee Byung Hun since over 23 years ago when both were in K-drama All In but had no scenes since she was the younger (teen) version of the female lead played by Song Hye Kyo. Oh how times fly.
I guess Han Jimin is getting paired with actors from her own agency for her 2 upcoming shows. Also JJH and HJM couldn’t be more different choices for the FL lol.
Is no one touching a potentially politically charged script that they had to find someone from LBH’s own agency to pair up with him? Han Ji Min is a good but not sure how she’d fit a role that was originally offered to Jun Ji Hyun.
Lol same thought, definitely there’s going to be political issue. In recent years korean producer always managed to make political issue in non political drama
I hope Han Ji Min will be able to do a different genre aside from romcom or melo. Rooting for her.
