Seoul Drama Awards Releases Statement that Nominations are Not Out Yet Contradicting that Zhang Ling He was Nominated for Best Actor for Pursuit of Jade — 19 Comments

  1. ZLH is indeed very popular in South Korea right now, largely thanks to PoJ. It is actually quite rare to see South Korean fangirls go completely gaga over a Chinese celebrity, but that is exactly what is happening with ZLH on social media. This phenomenon has nothing to do with acting skills. It simply means that a large number of South Korean viewers find him incredibly attractive. Interestingly, I saw a similar buzz a while ago referring to Song Weilong’s nomination for a South Korean award. I guess it was also a rumor? lol. It makes sense now, considering that ZLH and SWL resemble each other somehow, and their respective fandoms have been fighting ever since their breakout hit dramas. Judging by the sheer volume of online discussions, ZLH’s popularity is obviously higher.

    • I think you are referring to the Global OTT Awards which Song Weilong is nominated for alongside Tian Xiwei. They also won the Popularity Awards. So yeah at least this part is real.

  2. This Year of the Fire Horse has been quite a fiery ride for ZLH! Hang on tight, young man!

I wonder what his BaZi is and what zodiac sign he is to have such a tumultuous year.

  3. Funny how I had no interest in him or find him attractive when he was in “Love Between Fairy and Devil” but now I’m a complete fan of his. I think he’s super handsome and not a bad actor. I’m so glad he’s pairing up with so many beautiful ladies in his upcoming projects.

    • Same! PoJ is actually the 4th C-drama of ZLH that I’ve watched and while he had absolutely zero impact on me in his other 3 dramas, it was only in PoJ that I actually really noticed him. Not necessarily for his acting skills, but I think it was because of his Marquis character and of course, his looks. After the 4th drama, I’ve finally become a fan, thanks to PoJ.

  4. There are indeed many other actors and actresses who have been popular abroad for several years more than Tian Xiwei and Zhang Linghe no can’t even compare lol. Pursuit of Jade isn’t the first drama or actor acknowledge abroad, lmao. The fandom is so delulu. I saw the submission list, it’s super long. Some even have two nominated dramas.

  5. lol part is the Chinese netizens criticized him for this drama but then rooting for him to win an award for the same role

    • He doesn’t have nearly as many fans as he would like to portray, that’s actually his problem which is why they keep resorting to underhanded things like this or that “crowd” that broke the doors on the mall that wasn’t a major crowd at all and half of them were paid to be there by his team.

His “popularity” is as it always has been, mediocre. The push is actually increasing the general dislike towards him. His team is mishandling it all rather badly.

      • Chinese netizens can say whatever they want, but his popularity is undeniably exploding outside of China. I’ve seen international fangirls all over social media swooning over Zhang Linghe in multiple languages. I highly doubt his agency has the extensive power required to manipulate global buzz outside Chinese Communists’ Great Firewall. lmao.

He’s getting famous internationally in a way that’s very similar to Xiao Zhan after The Untamed. Whether this rising popularity is sustainable long-term is yet to be seen, but dismissing his current hype is just a fool’s wish. lol

      • Lmao here comes the resident Xiao Zhan anti. You wish he could reach half of his numbers.

No, buying a few articles abroad doesn’t mean popularity. Luo Yunxi had bigger crowds great him when he was recently in Singapore.

Where are his major brand deals if he is getting so popular abroad? Nowhere. Guy can’t sell out Molsion.

        Enjoy your delusions!

      • @Lmao, chill! You’re seething and coping hard. LMAO. Xiao Zhan doesn’t need an insecure fan like you to defend his status, nor does your rabid behavior promote his career. lol

      • You are the one who brought in Xiao Zhan, not me. The simple fact is that there are more than just him when it comes to artists who can and do have fan numbers greater than ZLH.

That your dream of someone besting XZ isn’t coming true with ZLH must be hurting but you are just going to have to cope.

      • @Lmao, LOL, relax!!!! I’m not even a ZLH fan YET! I just thought he was attractive in Pursuit of Jade. That’s literally it. But as a XZ fan who actually touches grass and looks at international data, I’m just stating facts. I follow XZ’s global updates and buzz almost every single day, and ZLH’s massive breakout popularity outside of China mirrors XZ’s peak The Untamed era, considering PoJ literally ranked #5-8 on Netflix’s global charts for a few weeks, which the Untamed didn’t even achieve. PoJ’s global outreach has exceeded the Untamed.

No one is saying ZLH is replacing XZ as the king of C-ent.

But seriously, why are you always fighting for your life in the comments? The insecurity is loud!!!!! lol. Every time a rising star breathes or has a successful drama, you’re right there eager to throw shade. Why? Trashing other actors isn’t magically going to advance XZ’s career. lol. Help it make sense.

  6. So embarrassing. His team pushed this was real, not to mention his fans. I laughed my head off when the official announcement had to be issued that it’s false.

But then, he can’t act at all, what else can he do but push stuff like this. He shouldn’t worry though and can continue buying more bots!

  7. ZLH isn’t my fave, and his modern looks aren’t my cup of tea. But I applaud young actors making a breakthrough, whether it’s hype or talent recognition. Everyone should be celebrating the massive viewership of Pursuit of Jade on Netflix, the #1 global streaming platform. Normal, mentally stable people would be happy for the cast’s breakout popularity, including ZLH. But nope? Just look at all the negative comments here dissing him!

Even on other C-drama forums like Reddit, detractors are posting lengthy paragraphs almost every single week. It’s like they’re writing corporate executive summaries just to vent their frustration over PoJ’s commercial success and ZLH’s popularity. Honestly, you guys are just coping at this point! lol. Seriously, chill!!!!! ZLH isn’t going to steal your fave’s niche; if your fave is actually good enough, they have nothing to worry about. lol

    • As a new fan of Zheng Linghe, is he really an actor who bought his own success? Is all these viewers on Netflix and other broadcasts all bought by him? All the negative comments about him are not so light. As a new fan, I see he need a lot of improvements in his acting but he still doing fine in my opinion. Hope the best for the whole POJ production. Still will support his works as I’m looking forward to The Road To Glory.

      • I’m not even a fan of ZLH. Before PoJ, the only ZLH’s drama I managed to finish was his debut drama, Maiden Holmes, where I thought he did a great job for a rookie. Aside from that, I didn’t like, nor did I finish any of his other dramas except for Story of Kunning Palace (SoKP), which I only wrapped up recently because the plot was intriguing. I was simply sharing my observations about PoJ’s success and ZLH’s exploding popularity outside of China.

From what I’ve seen on Chinese social media, Cdrama fans, especially Chinese netizens, are some of the most mentally unhinged people out there. lol. This is just entertainment, yet so many of them including some of familiar visitors of this blog treat it like it’s their own career or a matter of life and death. lol. It’s absolutely comical. I always burst out laughing when reading the posts and comments on these Cdrama forums.
