Wang Xing Yue and Liu Xie Ning in Talks for Period Politics and Romance C-drama Chang Ning Di Jun — 11 Comments

  1. She is the Double? Who? Oh she must have been forgettable! lol sorry to be honest.

I’m still waiting for WXY to have another breakout after the Double. All his dramas except for the Double are too pedestrian to warrant much attention.

    • She was the stepsister/daughter of antagonist stepmother. She was stuck-up and her mom’s puppet for a good chunk of her screen time, but later matured. She had like 2% of screentime and most people don’t remember minor antagonists.

      • I see. I remember that character though. The Double impressed me in many aspects though. I’ll check out this new drama for WXY’s sake anyhow.

  2. I’ve never really felt that she has leading-lady charisma. But then again, if she has strong capital backing that can finance projects and shape public perception, then disregard everything I just said. As for Wang Xingyue, I think it’s only natural that projects keep coming his way despite the so-called industry winter. The focus has clearly shifted toward the post-00 generation. Good luck to the post-95 actors who still haven’t improved their acting.

  3. I think Liu Xie Ning doesn’t play villain role very well but she is fine in leading roles playing good or mixed role. Maybe she is just too sweet looking to be convincing as a wicked person but I have seen her in other dramas: Kunning, Lady Revenger, Night of Live with You. In Lady Revenger, she had a short cameo but it was a memorable one; intelligent, sympathetic and tragic.

She has done lots of supporting roles so I think it’s good for her to move up to leading roles finally.

  4. I only watched her in Kunning Palace and I found her more attractive than Bai Lu. Of course, its a low bar but I do think she is suited for FL roles.

  5. I was mesmerized by her in that fragrance drama w/ WXY. Thought she was so pretty and actually quite decent at acting. Come to find out she’s a korean-trained idol. It figures. So she definitely has the eye candy part down. She hasn’t really failed in any roles so far, so I’m looking forward to this

    • @coralie

I agree with you. Her facial features reminds me of Li Qin, but I think Xie Ning is a little bit softer in her acting skills, whereas Li Qin tends to be very strong and rigid in some of her roles.

  6. I think she’s quite pretty and has antagonist potential, I do remember her from the double as i found her pretty there, but with an incredibly annoying character. idk if this project has fighting scenes or anything that requires physical prowess from the FL cos i honestly can’t imagine her being a convincing general either.

WXY i’m ok, but i’m waiting for his breakout role beyond the double. he has potential but is always cast in all these mediocre idol type shows with very weak female leads.

  7. I find her pretty but boring, she had plum supporting roles in The Double and Kunning Palace, but didn’t make much of an impression. I had to look up her dramas to place which is her character.
