It’s probably smart timing that the two leads of breakout hit Pursuit of Jade both quickly followed up with another drama airing soon thereafter. Zhang Ling He had Overdo which is close to finishing its airing and now Tian Xi Wei is back on the small screen with Genius Girlfriend which iQiyi released over the weekend on August 2nd. Her male lead is Hu Yi Tian who is just one of those inexplicable actors for me, yes he’s tall and mostly good looking but has the charisma of a block of wood, and one that is kinda wet to boot. I did hear he did okay in his last drama Blossoms in Adversity with fellow charisma limited Zhang Jing Yi but she’s at least come across as occasionally sparking life in her performances. Tian Xi Wei has none of that issue she’s always vibrant and alive in her acting so hopefully these two can ignite some chemistry onscreen to sell this romance story.
