Vertical C-dramas are basically cheap short form entertainment for the short attention span new era and visuals mean more than acting, plot, or dialogue. I’m not saying upcoming iQiyi modern C-drama The Leading Stars (许你星河千里 Shu Ni Xing He Qian Li) is a vertical drama but it certainly gave off those vibes despite what appears to be a proper plot, budget, and leads in Cheng Lei and Shen Yu Jie. I think it’s the whooshing wind machines, the copious amounts of near making out, and Cheng Lei’s topless torso that capture the attention right off the bat while wondering why the hell the two leads are doing race car driving in a desert scape. The two stars are giving off chemistry in the preview and appear to be holding it together and not bursting out laughing at all the intense staring and posing lol. All teasing aside, this looks like a fun ride (pun intended).
