Cheng Lei and Shen Yu Jie Mix Speed and Sexy Times in the Desert in First Look at Modern C-drama The Leading Stars
Vertical C-dramas are basically cheap short form entertainment for the short attention span new era and visuals mean more than acting, plot, or dialogue. I’m not saying upcoming iQiyi modern C-drama The Leading Stars (许你星河千里 Shu Ni Xing He Qian Li) is a vertical drama but it certainly gave off those vibes despite what appears to be a proper plot, budget, and leads in Cheng Lei and Shen Yu Jie. I think it’s the whooshing wind machines, the copious amounts of near making out, and Cheng Lei’s topless torso that capture the attention right off the bat while wondering why the hell the two leads are doing race car driving in a desert scape. The two stars are giving off chemistry in the preview and appear to be holding it together and not bursting out laughing at all the intense staring and posing lol. All teasing aside, this looks like a fun ride (pun intended).
Trailer for The Leading Stars:
Ok, I have no clue what this is about watching the trailer. Also this looks more like a western trailer than a Chinese one with all the makeout and action scenes. While I enjoy a good kissing scene or 2, part of why I like Chinese dramas are the subtleness of romance.
I have my doubts those steamy Intimate scenes will show up for sure just because they always show those scenes in the trailer and when it airs it either gets cut or taken out. I would be shocked if they really do. Not that I look forward to it or anything lol just an observation. Even that one spring drama that everyone loved so much had scenes but not that steamy looking. Last drama I recall that got away with it is Speed and love drama with Esther yu. I like the main actor in this upcoming drama so I might check this out for him.
ALL the modern C dramas are snoozefests. lol
Agreed. Many modern cdrama only good halfway. And they should keep it short. Not 40 ep
I have no idea what the storyline is either, but I’m up for some more Cheng Lei!
Not sure what it is from the trailer, but the trailer did make me miss Ni Ni and Bai Yu’s Parallel World, which had a dessert setting and was really good.
That show was surprisingly addictive with great chemistry btw the leads. The poster gave me exactly those vibes !
Ikr!
I love Parallel World.
Cheng Lei and Shen Yu Jie are on my fav list too, so I can’t wait for this.
The shortdramatization of long dramas
Action and steamy scenes are just the usual trailer baits, but if they can’t even make a trailer exciting, the drama is doomed.
