Top 95-actresses Vying for Tencent Big Budget Female Lead Centric Period Drama Hu Shan Wei with Song Zu Er in the Lead
An upcoming Tencent big budget period C-drama is starting to make chatter in the casting circles as it’s one of the few S+ budget projects on deck right now. It’s titled Hu Shan Wei (胡善围) and is adapted from a novel about a female lead whose fiancee dies and rather than get forced into marriages goes into court to study to become a historian. There she encounters political conspiracies that she resolves while also impressing the royal family and court with her smarts and resilience. Apparently this is THE drama that the top 95-line of actresses all want and right now word on the street is Tencent is in early talks with Song Zu Er for this drama. I can see her playing this role for sure and sadly but for Zhao Lu Si‘s current situation she would also be an actress I would love to see in this drama.
Zhao lusi need modern drama.her current face and style not suitable for period drama.besides period drama take too long shooting.
Ummm, ZLS earned her popularity doing historicals. ROTAR. WRTW. LLTG. I used to search all over for her historicals after I caught her first drama.

This sounds interesting! I hope the drama is as good as the current hit, Against the Current. While its director is solid, they aren’t quite as brilliant as Zeng Qingjie, the director of Pursuit of Jade. However, what really impresses me about Against the Current is the writing; I’m thoroughly enjoying the storyline.
I’ve seen almost every project under Zeng Qingjie’s direction and it’s fortunate that Blossom and Pursuit of Jade had a relatively solid plot. His other works are dull as there’s no quality in the writing, and it spoiled any value in the cinematography. LOL.

Highly unlikely that it would be Song Zuer because the plot is very similar to The Palace Stewardess which she just finished filming with Ding Yuxi.
This would be too much for ZLS, i think. Her recent roles and projects only require her for a short period of time so it’s not too overwhelming. A drama with a historian background sounds like a ton of memorization work. I don’t think she’d be ready for this.
