Song Wei Long and Wang Chu Ran Likely Cast in Hunan TV Modern Romance Drama The Dimming Lights
Well of course these two C-stars are for sure going to work together on a romance drama, the only question is when and what type of series. It’s now looking like the C-drama that will pair up Song Wei Long and Wang Chu Ran is a modern romance titled The Dimming Lights (Hua Deng Chu Xia 华灯初下) adapted from the same name novel and is being produced by Hunan TV and Mango with an eye towards year end 2026 production start. TBH I’ve only liked Song Wei Long in modern roles whereas I’ve liked Wang Chu Ran much better in period roles, so a nice roll which genre would be best for coupling these two up onscreen. The rumored casting of Song Wei Long and Wang Chu Ran is very new news and earlier this drama was reportedly going to reunite Zhang Ling He and Tian Xi Wei together after their Pursuit of Jade success but that’s not happening now.

Ugh, another drama I will probably only watch the 1st episode and then drop.
If this pushes through, it’s most likely going to be when Wang Churan and Zhang Linghe’s casting in Overdo. Yeah, Overdo was a mess story-wise but it still got their target audience. Superficial as it sounds, most people generally watch when good looking people gets matched up together and these two are good looking people.
Not gonna lie I’m one of those who watched till the end for the visuals alone. The plot might be ridiculous but its not boring.
@Jae, I remain firmly convinced that C-drama audiences are ridiculously superficial and easily swayed. LOL. It’s easy to find groups complaining about the lack of new faces in the biz, but along the same lines, they’ll mock those who don’t have traffic or high popularity. They really don’t consider artistic merit. There are several users like that on this blog and honestly, every now and then I just visit this site to have a laugh.
Yikes that is going to be another dud. He is not good and she is a mannequin.
Both are visually pleasing. I saw Song Wei Long in person at the Mikimoto event last year. He has nice body proportions, and his sharp features stand out even more in real life. It’s a shame he’s not a good actor. I can’t recall a single decent performance from him, having seen almost his entire filmography. LOL. I wouldn’t rule out seeing him in a drama though, of course, that depends on who his co-star is.
Wang Chu Ran’s delivery in “Are You The One?” seemed effortless, and her comedic timing was spot-on. It’s the only drama of hers I’ve seen. I don’t want to watch her other works because I feel like my good impression of her is going to be ruined lol, just like what happened to me with Zang Linghe and Xiang Han Zhi recently.
The only drama that I saw Song Wei Long in was “Love For You”. Him and Zhang Jingyi were really bad. Both of them very good looking but I couldn’t feel any of their emotions.
I can’t get myself to watch LFY. I’ve seen both in some of their previous dramas and they are bland, especially ZJY. I’m afraid the SWL-WCR pairing (if this rumor is even true) might just be another bland one.
They’re really trying to make this Liu Yifei wannabe but results is giving Yang Zi minus Yang Zi’s acting prowess happen. Oh well, I heard that among the well connected actors, she has the best connection with her company backing her up.
