So if this drama is a success it will be a big missed opportunity for original male lead Chen Zhe Yuan for letting billing demands lead to a swap out of him with new male lead Chen Xing Xu. The C-drama Love on the Turquoise Land with Dilraba Dilmurat after a very eventful behind-the-scenes wrangling in February will likely end up kicking off filming by the end of this month in March. Reportedly some investors left after the billing conflict with Chen Zhe Yuan but with the smooth slotting in of Chen Xing Xu the production has found the budget investment again quickly and will start filming close to on track. Currently in Eternal Brotherhood as the third male lead Zhang Ming En is also joining the drama as the second male lead. Good luck to this cast and crew and hopefully the rest of the production is uneventful.
Chen Xingxu has such great potential, I’m glad he got this opportunity. I like Dilraba as a person but not the biggest fan of her acting but visually they seem to go well together so I’m looking forward to them working together. If this new casting is perfect and one of the reasons this drama succeeds (hopefully), then CZY didn’t miss out, he saved it by getting swapped out.
@Guest, I think one of the main reasons Dilraba is still increasing popular after so many years…apart from her beautiful looks- which we know cannot be the lasting factor as there are lots of beautiful faces too….it is really her own character snd personality.
She is a humble, approachable, down to earth, respectful and has a good soul. She is in many variety shows. And many audiences have watched her, got to know her over the years and grew to like her alot. We are not just talking about young fans…it is the loyal mummy, granny fans too.
She lives by setting a believable example. I did not enjoy her as a actress…but I have watched so many of her variety shows. She is just so adorable.
Not many international fans watch China variety shows thus they dont understand why she is so loved in China. I like Dilraba alot but I have only finished watching about 3 of her dramas. Sorry, her acting really does not appeal to me. So I dont consider myself a true fan…but I definitely adore this beauty as her own person and wish her happiness.
I agree! I don’t like her acting but her real life personality is super sweet which draws ppl in.
Same! I enjoy watching her in some dramas but not all. I am actually a fan of her as a person. She is so humble and no diva baggage at all.
I also think he didn’t miss out , but rather save it beside Dilraba fans didn’t want CZY casted for the role in the first place because he did fit the character lookwise to them. If anything he saved himself from lot of unnecessary criticism. And I will not personally blame him for the billing issues, it c-ent , there r investors behind every show that probably call the shot on certain issue before the actors comes in. Even though am all for equal billing am glad this didn’t go through, has some one said CZY needs to earn that position n he has not yet even though he is a decent actor.
Looks like an upgrade to me.
Agreed! 100% upgrade
I agree. I like both actors but for a period drama I prefer a male actor who looks as if he can actually perform any physical exercise.
Oh well. I was gonna to check the drama if CZY were the ML. But now forget it. I only care about the acting of an actor. As to their life off screen including rumors or facts or whatnot, it’s not a factor to decide whether I want to watch their dramas or not. Not saying CXX not a good actor, but I’m indifferent to him after watching several eps of his dramas. His looks aren’t up my alley either. So, pass!
Glad for Dilraba, I knew she’ll have no issues pulling in other investors to replace the ones that left. Chen Xingxu is overall a better actor than CZY.
I suspect if script is good and producer is solid, investments are no hard for Dilraba. Her viewer pulling power ia just great. After the recent success of Diva Hits the Road 5, Dilraba’s local viewers are still very fond of her. She has very adorable moments in the show.
As for Chen Zhe Yuan, he will have regrets as he is a big fan of Dilraba. But all these are not his will. His agency made those demands and it turn many people off. To be honest, I really feel very bad for Chen Zhe Yuan. This is the second drama his agency have made such demands, I really do not know if this loss will make a dent in his Brand. He is a decent actor and he has a few new dramas lined up. I still think he will be okay. I am looking forward to watching him in non period drama…
This industry is so fluid… we knows what happens next. They all just need to do their job well, dont angry the GOV, dont commit crimes, smile for their fans. They will still have a career…
@HL Tbh I doubt CZY has no say in the billing fiasco as he’s an adult who can make his own decisions. But I don’t dislike him to the point where I’ll avoid all his works yet, so I’ll still tune in if the drama he’s in is interesting and good. Right now, to me, he’s a very replaceable actor and of no loss to C-ent if he stops acting. It’s best for him to stop requesting equal billing against senior and more famous actors/actresses. Either take dramas where he’s 1st billing against juniors or quietly accept 2nd billing against seniors.
@Lilith, I too will still watch his drama is story interest me. I did not like him in period dramas but modern is enjoyable.
I read the synopsis. Sounds like an interesting and refreshing story! I’m not a Dilreba fan but will give this a watch. Agree with @Lilith CZY is dispensible in the very crowded C-ent industry. Tbh I don’t find him attractive at all, he doesn’t have a nice mouth and when he talks I find it very distracting. And his acting in HL was quite “greasy” to me. Lol
I think CZY is a good actor but CXX matches Dilraba more than CZY eventhough.
I agree CZY’s decent, but CXX does match Dilraba more in looks.
Time will tell if CZY’s agency is doing him dirty without his permission or with his consent. Very few actors have the power to dictate terms to their agencies. If they are unhappy, they will show it when it comes to contract renewal by breaking up with their previous company. No one wants to be gaslit or have negative press so they mostly suck it up until they can legally walk away , a good example is Yang Mi. Otherwise, they may find themselves like Song Wei Long, being stuck for years without a single acting project. Or with negative press like Crystal Yuan before her tax scandal.
I do believe that CZY’s agency is going him dirty by destroying his reputation, or maybe someone on the other side is doing media play by fueling the rumors of behind the scenes contract negotiations. Either way, he isn’t benefiting at all by this. If he were the one pushing for this, might be a good idea to tell his team to tone it down for a while.
I do thk its an upgrade of sorts. CXX has a this more mature vibe while CZY is more boyish. With CZY,bcoms a noona romance. Now with CXX it doesnt feel so.
Good for her!
And this is an upgrade, a major upgrade for this drama. They fit much better and he is also a good actor so I will check it out.
CZY got his wish, he wasn’t first billing, so he was removed.
I think that’s both a good thing and a bad thing.
Good, because going forward, whoever wants to talk filming with him will know they have to put him as 1st billing.
Bad, because how many great productions care enough to accept his conditions? He might be stuck in a cycle of B or C productions that will pull him down.
Time will tell, I guess.
CZY agency so delusional. They even demanded top billing for Hidden Love. Zhao Lusi was 4X more popular than him at this time.🤣
I hope he leave that agency and get good agency. He honestly deserve better agency than this.
As for me know, he is good but he need to prove more…
He didn’t like his acting in Princess and Werewolf.🥲
He is okay in modern and for costume he need to act more to improve.
Sword and Fairy 4 was great opportunity for him but he missed it. Because of his trash agency it lost many viewership
