Daylight Entertainment Prestige Drama Born to be Alive Now in Talks with Liu Shi Shi as the Female Lead
So the Chinese title is more memorable if you ask me, it’s called Tree of Life and I’ve written about it before as a drama that was going to Yang Zi as the female lead. But she’s since moved on to Family Business as her next drama and now this drama, which has the English title Born to be Alive, has moved on to courting Liu Shi Shi as the female lead. It’s a big project produced by prestige production agency Daylight Entertainment and is coveted as a strong female lead centered story so let’s see who ends up with the headlining role if its Shi Shi or another actress.

Would make much more sense for the Hu Ge rumor to be true if its Liu Shishi.
The idea that Hu Ge would be second lead to Liu Shi Shi is hilarious.

Hu Ge, who just won several awards being the 2nd lead isnt something new. But he can still be the 1st billing since his name is BIGGER than those ‘rumor’ actresses. He can accept the role in the name of ‘friendship’ or simply bcuz he loves the character. But definitely will not be the 2nd billing.
He’s been second lead to her twice before. Granted, that was before his NIF prestige. Still, he’d already broken out with Chinese Paladin at the time. His role in here would be considered a special lead, so more of a guest star than a supporting male lead. Also, if he was already rumored to play “second lead” to Yang Zi, then Liu Shishi is even more established and would be much more of an appropriate match in terms of status and age.

And the only things that are rumoured are what these actresses are releasing themselves. Pathetic.
What’s wrong with being a supporting actor? A lot of world class actors take on small roles all the time. Acting is not all about being a lead you know.

Nothing wrong with it but billing works a certain way in China and he can’t take second billed without being pushed around after. Do you really think actors are getting in all these billing disputes because they don’t matter? They do.

Pathetic.” when from Koalas blog we’ve only heard of Yang Zi being rumored first to headline before Hu Ge was thrown into the mix and now Liu Shi Shi who has nothing to do with this previous already on-going drama is also finally thrown into the mix.
As I said here a long time ago, Yang Zi’s camp has been releasing the news both about her casting and the (horrid) Hu Ge is second billed to me. Daylight never did so. I really think that casting rumors, wherever they come from, should not be posted as “official” unless they are just that, official.
Daylight has said nothing about this drama and LSS? Again just rumors, by her team.
Daylight doesn’t court anyone. They don’t have to.
Yeah, I find it interesting that many people don’t seem to read the motives behind each piece of news. News are always released with specific intentions, be it entertainment or political news.
Casting rumors are usually used for:
– Testing the waters to see if the public likes the leads pairing.
– Production team trying to pull investments for the project.
– Actors/actresses trying to attach their names to good production teams to elevate their status.
the drama is under daylight production so 1 and 2 are impossible
It’s true that PR “news” are usually motivated by a specific agenda.
Real political news are usually not the same category.
There is a reason why PR is not the same as journalism. News by journalists aim to provide unbiased news. Of course, that depends on the political environment, if there is free speech, no oppression and independent founding for news outlets (For example, Fox News is not independent and therefore, not trustworthy).
News by political campaigns are also just PR. Not news!
I wish people could discern the difference and all players should be forced to mark PR als PR. Like advertisement is marked as such.

@eJc Independent news outlets can also be biased when it comes to things that matter for them. Journalists and editors are human after all. But yeah, I also wish people can be more aware of the intentions behind each piece of news that they read.
Oh, talk about advertisement! I’ve seen people claiming a drama was very popular because they have seen its advertisements plastered everywhere during its broadcast 🤣 Can you believe that?
Lol, I agree, it doesn’t mean it’s a success or stands for quality. That’s the power of advertisement, more accurate money spent on fooling people. However, I’m not free from it’s influence either. Seeing something often is involuntarily on my mind.
I honestly wouldn’t mind if Xinyue and Jiuye finally get a happy ending after Sound of the Desert.
I felt it was a huge shame with the drama then.

I have to say though, since “noble idiocy” has always been a huge pet peeve for me, I found it poetic justice that the SML finally lost the love of the FL, through no one’s fault but his own. Not to mention, I just liked the ML’s character better, overall. He was so much more fun!
Happy to have someone on ML side, the “virtuos” people that dont want to fight for their love dont make me pity them 🤣 And we had really hot scenes with Eddie Peng? not sure about the actor name i dont think i saw him again in another drama.
I actually really liked the male lead too and love Eddie Peng. I’m glad she chose him. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to give Jiuye another shot at happiness in another lifetime 😅
Definitely was disappointed when Hu Ge wasn’t casted as the ML, but yes, I definitely fell for the ML’s character and Eddie’s portrayal as HQB. Hu Ge did good but I just couldn’t vote for a character like SML.
ML was unexpected for me to be honest..I really did not see him coming… as much as I like Xinyue and Jiuye together as I did ship them then…but Eddie’s character was better suited for her based on how the script was written.
I like how proactive and steadfast he was. He knew what he wanted and he never wavered. That’s the kind of love I’d want for myself. He was definitely my first choice as well! I fell for Eddie Peng in Sound of the Desert, but then he stops doing dramas lol. Story of my life. Won Bin too ðŸ˜
If the drama has nothing to with them they will deny it, the ladies involved in the rumors LSS and YZ probably really want to do this project and didnt deny it in hopes Daylight will consider them. Let’s wait and see which one its gonna be, it also could end up with a different person.
I love Eddie In SOTD too. He and LSS had an amazing chemistry but that doesn’t mean I didn’t want to see HG & LSS on another drama as the otp.
SOTD is of the very few dramas I root for both the ML and SML at the same time. Lol. But this drama is not a romance one so even if HG and LSS pair up for this they might not even be a couple.
I love LSS so this is great news! I hope it can garner her some well-deserved rewards.
