C-drama Brocade Odyssey with Tan Song Yun and Zheng Ye Cheng Premieres Today November 30th
Streaming platform Youku just finished one female lead centric commerce drama with The Story of Pearl Girl dealing with jewelry making and now it’s following right up with Brocade Odyssey centered in the world of weaving and fabric. The drama premiered today on November 30th and stars Tan Song Yun with Zheng Ye Cheng along with second leads Jing Chao and Chen Xiao Yun. Tan Song Yun does enterprising and plucky so well, better than Zhang Jing Yi for my personal taste, and I like that this drama is coming in with less expectations so I’m excited to see if it works for me.
See one, seen them all.
Well, that goes to every popular genre in entertainment, it all depends on the execution and actors. Nothing is new under the sun.
I like the two leads individually, so I’ll definitely be checking it out once some more episodes come out!
TSY is a good actress. But I feel like she has been playing similar characters.She gives the same vibe in all her chraracters. thats why I have stopped looking forward for her drama
I feel you. I had the same feeling when I watched the first two episodes, needless to say I’m not tuning in to watch a third episode.

A little uncomfortable that she’s doing another drama with “brocade” in the title….and about fabrics. Hopefully, it will be a complete 360 from “The Sword and the Brocade. She’s one of my favorites, so I hope this turns out well.
I really missed ZYC, he disappeared for quite a while,I hope for this dramas , even if the story isn’t that good, the chemistry would still be enough to make the drama great.
Often with this type of drama, what I enjoy most is learning the history background behind this craft. I love learning about historical Chinese art, food and craft work.
I took a peek at ep 1.. child actors are not great. I have seem a number of very good child actors in China, I am surprised by this batch especially the young child actress are rather tepid. But they are still young… they don’t impact the drama. Just my first impression.
I like Tang Song Yun and Zheng Ye Cheng so far, both are very relaxed in their roles… but I have to add, Tan Song Yun may not be suitable for portraying a character so young for long…
