Kim Se Jung and Kang Tae Oh Dramatically Swap Souls as Peddler and Prince in First Look at MBC Sageuk K-drama Moon River
Oh I am sooooo looking forward to this one! The first teaser and posters are out for upcoming MBC sageuk drama Moon River (The Moon Rises Over the River) with charming leads Kim Se Jung and Kang Tae Oh. Both can do physical and understated comedy so well as evidenced with her in A Business Proposal and him in the first half of The Tale of Nokdu when everyone thought it was a comedy still lol. This drama is basically sageuk Secret Garden where the OTP leads swap souls and then has to deal with it, and their positions in the Joseon era as Prince and Peddler are even more world’s apart than Chaebol and Stunt Woman. I find the drama posters charming and the first preview nicely energetic, and it doesn’t hurt this drama is coming after the most recent sageuk romance hit with Bon Appetit, Your Majesty.
Teaser for Moon River:
Not a fan of soul or body swap concept. Nonetheless, Business Proposal is still my favorite comedy by far. Therefore, I had a very soft spot for the BP OTP in my heart. That being said, I’ll keep my expectation low. Kdrama has been a tad dull this year. I should say, Cdrama too. 2025 is just not exciting and disappointing to me.
Looks fun, and I like both actors. But I do wish the kdrama industry can make a joseon fusion sageuk without a royal lead. Why can’t the male lead be the right-hand-man or a general? And is the peddler going to be a long lost noble? I hope this drama can avoid tedious palace politics.
Im scared because I just realized screenwriter is same who wrote More Than Friends…
I wont give up though. Im very interested in seeing Kim Se Jeong in costume drama also seeing her partner up with Kang Tae Oh.
I can imagine first few eps being slow and dramatically funny cause of soul change plot BUT I hope story will get bittersweet and emotional on second half.
