As we head into the final months of 2026 let’s see if the prognostication for next year looks better. Tencent is prepping a new modern romance C-drama titled 28th Year Spring or The 28th Spring (第二十八年春) and it’s reportedly been a project that’s been around the block with various actors and actresses and production teams attached. It then went dark but has been fully brought back to the front line to actually get filmed. There is a new production team assigned and Tencent is close to signing Dylan Wang as the male lead, and the female lead in talks is Liang Jie. This is probably a good move for Dylan since he has two period dramas on deck with Live Long and Prosper and Empress Reborn so a modern romance toggles things around for him. Liang Jie leaves me so cold and I do hope a different female lead gets cast but whatever happens let’s hope for sizzling chemistry as that appears to be a recipe for hit modern dramas nowadays.
