This drama was clearly greenlit before the slow down in investor funding for C-dramas otherwise it seems like a really big gamble for what looks sillier then it should for the subject matter. Zhang Yun Long and Ju Jing Yi star in iQiyi xianxia C-drama Fated Master and Disciple (来战 Lai Zhan or Come Battle) where they play lazy master and ambitious disciple in the early parts of the drama and then the whole story turns on its head when she turns serious tries to kill him. This is the kind of tonal whiplash I don’t love because it’s so hard to do right and with these two leads I’m even more sus, she’s just a terrible actress and doing a Yu Shu Xin impression here is doing her even less favors, while he’s a good actor but has what amounts to negative onscreen rizz. The posters are also rubbing me the wrong way from the color selection to the overkill on photoshopping. With that said, don’t let my naysaying harsh your buzz if this drama looks right up your alley.
