You From Another Star Drops Two New Teasers with Jeon Ji Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun

SBS is not wasting the chance to bandwagon on Heirs/The Inheritors great ratings and its follow up drama You From Another Star (You Came From the Stars) will air next week on December 18th. With that said, the promotional machine for this drama has been decidedly non-existent, especially stacked up against the juggernaut that was Heirs releasing stuff every week for months. It’s not even for the lack of big name stars since we’re got two movie star A-listers with Jeon Ji Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun. Maybe last year I would have called Kim Soo Hyun a rising star but he’s headlined a box office smash movie all by himself with Covertly Grandly and with his Baeksang Best Actor win for The Moon Embraces the Sun so I’ll give him the early distinction of joining the young A-listers. The drama released a fourth teaser today that is less mood building and more character illuminating and I’m liking what I see. Jeon Ji Hyun plays Chun Song Yi, a top Hallyu actress with a self-absorbed personality and a foul mouth. Kim Soo Hyun is Do Min Joon, a calm and collected alien who have lived on Earth for the last 400 years and is currently a university professor. I like that he looks much younger but is the mature one, while she’s like a raging tornado who is going to turn his life upside down. I wrote in an early post about this drama set up that it will involve cohabitation between the two leads, which is basically contract marriage without the marriage. I wish the teasers would start showing the rest of the cast such as Yoo In Na and Park Hae Jin so I can get a sense of what to expect. Right now it feels like a mash-up of fantasy and comedy with a side of melancholy. The drama palette is very pretty (though I think Miss Korea looks prettier) and we’re getting two gorgeous leads who are playing characters that are beautiful in the drama so I’m expected lots of eye candy.

  2. Wow, for what I’ve seen from the trailers this is going to be sad or they stop seeing each other for a long time. I’m liking it, the romance looks very cute. Love at first sight, Awwwww❤❤❤ and they have chemistry, I felt the romantic tension when they were too close.

I know it will differ in many ways but the calm & collected boy (with supernatural powers) paired with the messy self-absorbed noona, definitely reminds me of I Hear Your Voice (and that’s more or less my all time favourite drama) so.. I’ll be watching with medium to very high expectations LOL

  9. I like Kim Soo Hyun but I don’t think he deserved the Baeksang Award… I mean seriously for “The Moon embraces the Sun”??? Han Suk-Kyu should’ve won it for his OUTSTANDING performance in “Tree with Deep Roots”. So this shows that a award doesn’t make a actor a good actor. Kim Soo Hyun is good but he is far away from real a-list actors like Han Suk-Kyu.

    But anyways… I will probably check this out. I just want to see how hilarious stupid or maybe good it will be. Who knows right?

    I’m not too excited for it….probably will marathon it later as I’m already enjoying PMAI and eagerly waiting for Miss Korea..

  12. Jeon Ji-hyun has got all the sass…and Kim Soo-hyun looks like a brick wall. Somebody told me they were supposed to have chemistry, so where the heck is it?

    • LOL when you find it don’t forget to inform me where it is! KSH looks like a kid in front of his noona. And maybe I’m not into noona romances or whatever else but if don’t see anything called chemistry in there.

      Initially this was supposedly premiering on Christmas and SBS was keeping a week empty just incase they extended heirs. That never happened but I thought they’d do a special or something. Now that they’re not, this will go head to head with Miss Korea – which frankly looks sooo much better. JJH looks gorgeous though. But MK it is for me.

    • I can attest to that chem from the acting in their movie the thieves. It was on and popping. So, maybe wait and see at least ep 1 of the drama before you make up your mind.

Kim Soo Hyun is kinda meh to me…his acting is ok but I feel it’s overrated.I think the reason why korean actors aren’t really all that outstanding (well the mainstream so called “top actors”) is that they’re so easily placed on a pedestal despite them being mediocre. And the popular kdrama trope of typical arrogant/chaebol lead male doesn’t do anything to help their skills.

  14. I noticed something very weird about JJH and SYJ.

    Both were really pretty and gorgeous, but while they are aging, there is just something off about their looks to me. I can’t pick what it is, but something about their smiles make them look old and tired ? I don’t know. When not smiling they look really well, but when they do, I think they look weird.

    Is it botox on their forehead that make their expressions weird?

    Not bashing them, really, just that they look strange.
