This seems like a really light drama for the tvN Wed-Thurs time slot but it’s definitely serving so ridiculous it’s potentially good vibes. The first promos are here for Holy Idol (formerly called Pontifex Lembrary – the name of the male lead when he’s a god) based on a web novel that brings together fantasy and K-pop in a mashup. I hope it’s silly but serious, less low budget than Vampire Idol mwahaha and at least leans into better production values. Starring Kim Min Kyu and Go Bo Gyeol, the story has an all powerful god transported into the body of a third rate K-pop group center and somehow finds himself both succeeding at his idol career while still fighting fantastical baddies. Sounds curiously interesting so I’ll keep my mind open to see if all these elements work on the small screen.
