Now that this week’s new drama’s IRIS 2 and That Winter, The Wind Blows have both premiered to decent ratings and given a glimpse of what it has to offer, it’s now time to move on to the next big thing because our collective consciousness requires the unending download of new information. Premiering on March 18th on SBS taking over the Mon-Tues slot of Yawang, the upcoming revisionist sageuk Jang Ok Jung, Live In Love is starting to film in earnest after holding script reading pictures two weeks back. Right now the only pictures out are of the child actors, leading me to expect at least 2-4 episodes of full childhood scenes before the adults enter the picture. Starring Kim Tae Hee as Jang Ok Jung (formerly the villainous Jang Heebin), Yoo Ah In as King Sukjong (he of the many wives and sorta like Joseon’s very own Henry 8th), Hong Soo Hyun as Queen In Hyun, Jae Hee as Jang Ok Jung’s first love, Hang Seung Yeon of KARA as Dong Yi (later Choi Sukbin), and Lee Sang Yeob as Jang Ok Jung’s brother – this is one packed cast for what is sure to be an interesting ride. Will it be actually any good? I have no clue. Kim Tae Hee’s limited acting talents aside, she could totally shine in a sageuk role, who knows? The rest of the cast is pretty awesome IMO, not to mention some purported gorgeous costuming and scenery to come, and I’ll check it out for the eye candy alone. Kim Tae Hee visited the set this week to give chocolates to the crew and that was such a nice gesture from her. I’m sure she made the male crew members exceedingly happy. Below is a new script reading still of the leads, the child actors in costume, and the first peek at the palace set for the drama.
Still don’t know what to think of this drama. I really need previews as soon as possible and pictures of the adult actors in full sageuk attire. And maybe a better synopsis by SBS would be nice. Yeah I have many wishes but just because I don’t know what to expect from this. 🙂
I don’t know why, buy I am very optimistic about this one.
It doesn’t look like the most popular child cast, meaning the ones who steal the spotlight from the adults. (I am not talking about talent wise, I mean media coverage.)
KTH has been smart in her choices of projects, while YAI has been unlucky. FKing didn’t have to suck; it was written by the WHIB guys, right?
Anyway, I think the chemistry will be strong between them. He’s edgy enough, and she’s experienced. Crossing my fingers…
She could shine in a sageuk, but as an infamous femme fatale, even if it’s a candy coated version? Doubt it. You’d need someone edgy and… competent… for that.
Who knows, she might actually pull off a Ha Ji Won performance in Hwang Jin Yi…but I doubt it. KTH is really pretty but she really lacks in the acting. She was not bad in her latest drama but she was not impressive either. I will just have to wait a see.
Thank God Yoo Ah In looks much older in sageuk costumes because what’s really hard for me to see in my head right now is him pulling of a love interest to either of these ladies with his rather boyish good looks ….I think the performances will be predictable, HSH will be awesome, YAI will come close and KTH, not so much
OMG, seem’s to be a powerhouse cast. I want to see Lee Sang Yeob playing Jang Ok Jong’s brother whom I hate much in the drama DongYi.
