I double checked my Meteor Garden encyclopedia and confirmed, yep there is a twenty year age difference and the two dramas aired 18 years apart. I’m talking about OG Taiwanese Meteor Garden and the latest C-version remake Meteor Garden 2018, and now the pairing of OG Domyouji Jerry Yan with latest Tsukushi Shen Yue. I was thinking of OG Meteor Garden like they would be the parents to the latest version which was so cute and on point, and now suddenly the drama gods want me to imagine Jerry with Shen Yue?!? Like, who thought this was a good idea. And yet when I watched the trailer I couldn’t stop watching because (1) the story for the drama Count Your Lucky Stars looks so stupid (she’s unlucky, he’s not, they kiss and switch lucks), and (2) sheer curiously on how the drama can sell me that they are a compelling romantic couple. Verdict – still out but it’s not an immediately and unholy NO WAY after watching, I’m oddly compelled to check it out.

I felt the same as you koala until I saw the trailer the other day and it didn't look too icky. It looked like they were having fun. I must say though Jerry is much better looking now than in his younger days.
It looks more fun than her last drama... The last one her character was interesting but all the story was more about the the other female lead who was boring.

They're clearly gonna play on the fact that it's the first and last generation of the Meteor Garden saga, so it's a legendary collaboration. I don't really mind that they're acting together. Their chemistry seems fine, for now. But I am pretty disappointed that Jerry would revert back and act in these types of idol romantic comedy, slapstick dramas. His acting capabilities deserve a much more complex and nuanced role :/
So when will Dylan Wang and Barbie Hsu do a drama together?
Hahaha...I am thinking the same thing. It will be a super big news when Barbie Hsu come back to the dramaland and take Dylan as her interest romance on screen.
