Kwak Dong Yeon and Koo Kyu Hwan Sign on for TVing X-files Type Drama Monstrous with the Script By the Director of Train to Busan and the Writer of My Holo Love

A cool new drama and casting news to get excited about recently dropped. TVing is preparing a K-drama titled Monstrous that is being described like the Korean X-files. To which I say, everyone first go watch Joseon X-files. But I digress, this drama has signed on talented actor Kwak Dong Yeon and Koo Kyu Hwan as the male leads and helming the project is award winning director Jang Gun Jae for his movie A Midsummer’s Fantasia and the script will be a joint effort from the director of Train to Busan and Peninsula and the screenwriter of My Holo Love and Pied Piper. It’s slated to be a 6-episode series and I’m glad so much casting love is finally coming Kwak Dong Yeon’s way as he’s also doing the Netflix drama Hunting Dogs as well.

  • Am glad we are getting shorter episodes in the kdrama world. I'm very sure am part of the minority but I prefer the series short and well written even if it means more seasons than just having long helplessly and badly written 16-20 episodes. Make them shorter and a ride

    • You may be in the minority but you are NOT alone - I've been watching K Dramas for 8 years, and for the last 7 of them I've been wishing K Dramas would emulate J doramas in accepting that "less is more" :)

      • In the last couple of years I've been having difficulty finishing kdramas because they just felt needlessly LONG, ngl the storytelling ineffectiveness is even more felt the more I watch jdramas.

    • Yesssss to shorter dramas (10-12 eps max) and also it would be great if the runtime would be cut a bit (I hate 80-90 min eps, would love 45-50 mins) but nooooooooooooooooooooooo to seasons :((( Just write a nice story and close it, please

      • Yep, I'm with you on that one too. J-dorama's 10-12 episodes with a total runtime of around 10 hours is pretty much perfect, and although they do have several repeat seasons, most are complete in themselves. Korea could learn much

  • Koo kyo hwan is one of the most anticipated actor as surveyed by experts as reported by Cine21. He has bright future
