Squid Game Stars Lee Jung Jae and Jung Ho Yeon Represent at Various US Events Including The Gotham Awards, LACMA Gala, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

The year 2021 is definitely the yet of Netflix K-dramas, and if you asked me in January which of the K-dramas Netflix produced that would be the big breakout hit I would not have necessarily picked Squid Game. I’m still amazing at how BIG this drama got worldwide, and feel it’s both the right timing and also the right drama to breakout. Having it air in September also gave it timing to take advantage of Halloween and everyone and their kids dressing like Squid Game contestants and other memes. Last month two of the leads Lee Jung Jae and Jung Ho Yeon took their surged popularity to the US for various events – they attended the LACMA Gala, then the 2021 Gotham Awards, and Lee Jung Jae was a guest on Late Night with Stephen Colbert. What a fantastic spotlight on K-drama land and no matter if you liked Squid Game or not this is something to be proud of. I feel like K-movies got a big spotlight in 2019-2020 with Parasite, and of course the years long global success of BTS in K-pop, so now it’s K-dramas time to shine.
