Well, it looks like the weekend ratings bonanza is over for the time being now that the first batch out of the 2022 gate is over and the current crop unable to match the same audience interest. This weekend had two new premieres, the first was tvN drama Shooting Star which is a Fri-Sat drama and yesterday’s episode 1 was quite low. Today’s episode 2 went up a smidge to 1.792% which doesn’t indicate that the viewers are coming in yet. Over on MBC the network premiered new Sat-Sun drama From Now On, Showtime! and the first episode brought in 2.8% ratings which is is even lower considering its on a prime time channel and not cable. Weekends remain packed with dramas from long sageuks with family weekend fare but in terms of buzz it’s noticeably muted now that both Twenty Five, Twenty One and Forecasting Love and Weather both finished its runs.

I enjoyed the first ep of From now on Showtime. It has great cast, no need to mention how good Park Hae Jin is, FL is very good and underrated actress. It was funny and new concept, but not that strong. I will keep this one in my ongoing list along with My Liberation Notes.
Shooting Star is worse. I felt like no one can act there. In ep 1, that Africa part is unnecessary and irrelevant. Are they losing their minds adding something like this when watching k-drama become global. In ep 2, when ML unzipped part, this was clearly sexual harassment. Don’t force us to be romantic and funny to something gross like this. I just dropped it at ep 2.
Erm our blues had higher ratings than 2521 when it premiered but now its dipped nonetheless its still has alot of buzz.
As for my liberation notes, there are no buzzy famous actors like FLAW so it makes sense.
It is not only because buzzy famous actors but first 4 episodes of FLAW was very good. It made the viewers wanted to keep watching. FLAW writer is a new writer compare to MLN.
I’m not saying that the only reason. FLAW deserves its success.?
My Liberation notes .❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ The best . Again my life for fun because i tend to like this genre even if it’s not original and for Lee Jun Ki . It’s beautiful now is lighter than others KBS week end dramas so it’s an easy watch but it doesn’t seem to attract viewers when the previous one started with an issue about Teen/ older man and had great ratings ?♀️
Haven’t had the chance to watch both shows premiere but From now on Showtime’s drama poster looks like more like some sort of reality or variety magic show than a weekend drama with actors on it. If I didn’t know better I would have thought so.
I miss Park Hae Jin’s Cheese on a trap days…..
Eh I never expected either of these to do well. It’s not like nothing is doing well on the weekends: Our Blues, Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce) and Again My Life all have good ratings. If the networks continue to pack nine freaking dramas into the weekend, there are going to be some low ratings.
But did flaw really have buzz. For me the only dramas with lot of buzz this year was 2521 and business proposal.
@itchy FLAW it has lot of buzz special if you were their fan you will notice that but if not you will just ignore LOL even in Japan FLAW remains number 1 on their List so open your eye ahaha
Bp is no.1 in japan last i checked though
It just in japan tho. The general buzz on social media is nothing special
I miss FLAW the cast the storyline, ost superb!
Finally had a chance to check out Sh**ting Stars. It’s badly written, badly directed. Some scenes that were supposed to be “cute” and “heart-fluttering” were distastefully done that I’m pretty sure it’s workplace sexual harassment and I wouldn’t stand for it if I were the leads. It’s a case of “a lot of things happening in ep 1 and ep 2 but nothing’s really happening in ep 1 and ep 2”. The premise could have been interesting had the execution been better.
