The doctor is here. Oh wait, I mean the lawyer is here. Nope, it’s actually both, the Doctor Lawyer arrives on MBC Fri-Sat time slot on May 27th following Tomorrow ready to treat both ailments and legal transgressions. Putting aside the logistical absurdity of the premise – that a top surgeon who goes to jail after medical malpractice and loses his medical license can then come back four years later as a lawyer with a legal license – the drama brings back So Ji Sub to the small screen with Im Soo Hyang and Shin Sung Rok for what is billed as a legal drama that focuses on the misconduct in the medical field that arises to legal liability. I’m thinking medical malpractice is the tip of the iceberg and we will see medical negligence, gross negligence, intentional medical misconduct, and probably even homicide arising from medical treatment. Legal and medical dramas are each a very robust and popular genres of its own in K-dramas but this combines the two for a two-fer. The drama comes from the directorial hand of the PD of Haechi, The Village: Achiara’s Secret, and The Great Seer working with the screenwriter of Class of Lies.
