Zhao Li Ying and Gong Jun Reportedly Cast in 1970’s Era Modern Educational Pursuit Romance C-drama

This sounds like one of those feel good dramas that presents aspirational positive pursuits and throw in an old school romance on top. C-ent gossip is saying that Zhao Li Ying and Gong Jun as the next couple to be thrown together in the C-drama OTP musical chairs and this time it’s a modern drama (whew, what a breath of fresh-er air). The drama is titled A Pragmatic Person’s Love (实用主义者的爱情) and is set in the 1970’s China, specifically in 1977 when the National College Exam (Gao Kao) was re-instated after a decade since Mao Zhe Dong abolished it in 1966. Zhao Li Ying’s play a young girl who aspires to take the exam and go to college and the man she marries to take care of but then falls in love with him. Zhao Li Ying and Gong Jun have shot a Vogue short film and pictorial together before and visually they also look good together. Gong Jun has two big dramas that will be released prior to this one one with Dilraba Dilmurat and the other with Yang Mi so he’s really collecting top actresses like charms.

  2. I always look at Gong Jun and feel sorry for Zhang Zhehan. Comparatively, ZZH is a way much better actor than Gong Jun (and better looking too) and had he not been canceled for his past action (not even a crime but simply thoughtless/insensitive), he would have worked with these top actresses and get his most deserving success.

  3. I hope they let him be a little scruffier and rough around the edges vs perfectly styled and proper. Lol. I fully believe he could immerse himself into a character that’s a little more flawed! Much like his outing in “Word of Honor.”
