Filming has kicked off for the C-drama adaptation of period fantasy romance novel Hidden God, the sequel in the same story that was Ancient Love Poetry. It will be Zhao Lu Si‘s first role in a xianxia drama (about time!) and she’s got top billing here so if the drama succeeds or fails will definitely impact what the industry thinks of her. I think it’s a good gamble for her and seeing her in costume she definitely looks the part, so cute and adorable in a natural way. I am deathly allergic to C-drama female leads trying to be cute (I won’t name names but goodness there a certain actress who gives me hives) and always sigh in relief when the right actress is cast in roles that are written as cute. Ancient Love Poetry waffled in the first half due to Zhou Dong Yu not being suitable for the innocent role but in this sequel at least Zhao Lu Si looks the part from the get go.

it could be TXW. but zls isn’t that natural either coz she always use filters to slim down and beautify her face, be it in dramas, photoshoot, and reuters’ photos. so many evidents and melons abt this already. tbh, i was quite shocked seeing the differences of her faces before and after editing during weibo night, like the one that has been posted in this site previously. she really has the best editing team behind her.

If you’re talking about Immortal Samsara then you’re right. Even Yang Zi herself didn’t want to pick that role but her old company shoved it on her. Try He Dun’s little cola, there Yang Zi isn’t pretending to be cute and the short drama deals with a heavy topic.

I seriously can’t watch xianxias because of actresses in their mid to late 20s acting overly cutesy in the first few episodes. I know they’re supposed to be playing young characters (around 17-20), but I don’t see 17-20 year olds irl acting like that LOL.
