iQiyi Releases C-drama Version of Gaus Electronics Titled Never Give Up with Zheng Kai, Chen Yu Qi, and Dylan Wang
I feel like SARFT just went on an approval spree recently how else to explain the spate of releases in recent weeks. A new workplace drama arrives this week on February 21st titled Never Give Up but is actually the C-drama adaption of webtoon Gaus Electronics which got a K-drama version last year. This one stars Zheng Kai, Chen Yu Qi, and Dylan Wang, a reunion for the latter two and hopefully a way better story than their last interminable period drama Unchained Love. This is a classic quirky workplace story so if the comedic tone is to your taste then check it out.

The Korean version was so funny! The casting was great. Kwak Dong-Yeon and Ko Sung-Hee had eletric chemistry!
In this one, it looks like they focused the story on the parachuted chaebol son. The houpette was funnier in the Korean version.
I loved the Gaus Electronics kdrama and its absurd humor. It looks like the only thing this adaptation has in common with the korean one is the quirky workplace and the chaebol with the weird cowlick. The characters all seem different. The kdrama version leaned into the “they suck at their jobs” (and how absurd that they still have their jobs!) while this one feels much like “they have potential!”. I feel like I need to read the webtoon to see what its tone is.
I do love funny office humor, so I’m in!
Gaus Electronics was one of the best dramas of 2022.
I’ve watched Never Give Up till ep 6 and it’s so hilarious! Literally rofl-ing. Think I like it even better than the Korean version. Some gold moments like: “memorial phone 奏折手机) because 8-folding-phones like Chinese imperial memorial/decree in ancient China, also innocent fuerdai intern 白马帅 buying almost 900 bubble tea cups (the mentor said “我这个实习生的问题不是带不动,是一带就起飞了”🤣 ) and the head-reading keyboard (I was laughing so hard from “biubiubiu”). There are more hilarious ones – if you can watch it you’ll know what I mean 🤣
DiDi is playing the role of the hilarous MaTan : my favourite character in the OG version
