Zhao Lu Si’s Fans Hold Her Next Drama Hostage Going Dark to Protest Her Reunion with Liu Yu Ning as Male Lead

Man, talk about shooting your self in your own foot intentionally. News broke this week that Liu Yu Ning was in talks to be the male lead in Pearl Curtain and Jade Curtain, which for the last 6 months had signed on Zhao Lu Si as the female lead but had a modeling runway of potential male leads pass through. One would think this is GOOD news, since he’s a liuliang-adjacent male lead who also was a super popular OTP former male lead with her in The Long Ballad, but noooooo her fandom is by and large up at arms over this. The issue is they think reunion is bad because they hated the couple shipping fans during that period, they think he’s used goods after he admitted he had been married and was divorced, and basically think she’s a much bigger star than him now so it’s lowering herself to work with him again. Zhao Lu Si’s fandom wants her to quit this drama and has gone dark refusing to update her news to protest. C-ent insiders are headdesking because Zhao Lu Si worked hard to land this female-lead centric big drama and costarring with Liu Yu Ning is a good thing for her male lead casting so the insider consensus is her fandom is dragging her down with its own idiotic opinions.

Zhao Lu Si’s Fans Hold Her Next Drama Hostage Going Dark to Protest Her Reunion with Liu Yu Ning as Male Lead — 17 Comments

  1. How can a virgin become couple with a divorced man?
Just kidding…. Anyway it would be wirthwhile to see their reunion. Whoever said Zhao Lusi can’t act should watch her her character growth and heartbreaking performance in the Lost Ballad.

  2. I don’t think ZLS and LYN are a good match onscreen, but that’s just me. I am not unhappy if they decide to remove him or her from this project purely from a selfish standpoint. However, the idea of removing her or his casting because of silly fans/anti-fans is dumb. If ZLS signs on because it’s a good project, and LYN was vetted as a good costar, then let it be. The results will speak for themselves.

    • I agree with you. I didn’t care for their paring in The Long Ballad and didn’t see the chemistry between them, but fans of the couple were so vocal about it. Now the same fans don’t want them to star in the another drama together. I wonder how much credence we should pay to this rumor because it could just be used to drum up publicity in their search for a male lead. From my perspective, there are a few second leads in other dramas whom I think she would have better chemistry with. But whoever she stars with I will definitely watch her in it because she’s such a lovely actress.

      • I second your opinion haha. I didn’t feel their great chemistry in The Long Ballad, and I can’t remember when’s the last time she actually paired up with a previous co-star. All of her co-leads have been new people. There are still so many new costars to try new combinations with, there’s no reason to select LYN, so it’s definitely possible that LYN is just a rumor. But if it is, poor LYN who gets dragged through the mud for no reason. Regardless, I’m willing to try any new drama with ZLS in it, because I liked majority of her works.

  3. Looks like it’s time to protest those toxic fans and make sure she stays on this project along with LYN as leading man. Time to throw away controlling people in her life. Lol!!!

  4. Wow, talk about crazy. I liked them in The Long Ballad, but that was it. I didn’t really want them to pair up with each other so quick since they were just paired up, but guess her fans were more concerned or disappointed by the pairing.

    • Zhao Lusi can give Xiao Zhan serious competition when it comes to crazy fans. It is a pitty because she is literally adorable. I liked her with LYN in The Long Ballad and I thing working again with him would be a good thing because he’s famous but not that famous that they would enter in a fight on billing. Her fans think he’s lowering herself to star with him, but would they accept second billing if she were to star with a real big name?
Also, I can’t believe people are actually calling someone “used goods” because he is divorced. Like, what is this, 1923?
It shouldn’t surprise me though, recently I came across a post on Reddit and people there down voted massively someone who had dared suggest that the term “illegitimate children” contains stigma and should not be used. By the way, it was about that rumor about ChengYi’s having a child born out of wedlock.

  5. Crazy fans are so dumb.they are clearly not a true fans. True fans should be supportive. They can disagree but to threaten and boycott is beyond stupid. I’m not a fan of LYN but i won’t throw a tantrum because come on it’s just a drama. If you don’t like it, just don’t watch it. The worlds doesn’t revolve around you. Let others enjoy it

  6. I hope the delusional fans do realise whatever they do will have no bearing on her decision? She’s bound by contract? She makes her own choices?

  7. Ugh I hate crazy fans like that! They’re so stupid! What makes them think they have the rights to make the decision for her. She should just star with him to let them know that they don’t make the decisions for her.

  8. I hope they can pair her up with Alen Fang. He’s good looking but very famous so they have to worry about the billing part and crazy fans. After all they were both in TLB but just not paired up eventhough her character liked him in there.

    • Got to agree with you. Alen Feng should get more decent lead roles. Even though it’s a female centric role, a male lead is still a male lead.

  9. Both extreme shippers and extreme anti-shippers make me bonkers.

Don’t start fan wars among your own kind (anti-shippers versus shippers). It is NOT HELPFUL to the person you stan to start fights with your fellow fans.

Don’t confuse a fictional drama written by some middle-aged writer in an office somewhere with the real life of the actors who play those characters. It’s a STORY.

Don’t insist on dictating that the paid actors of another country follow your culture’s rules. Just because two colleagues in Korea or China are seen saying hello to each other does not automatically mean they are getting married! Likewise, casting officials do not, for your personal convenience, make sure that a lead pair is single before casting them. They are checking to see if the actors can embody the fictional characters as written in the script. It’s a job, not a dating service.

Just…I dunno, I wish fans would relax a bit and just let actors do the job they’re being paid to do. It’s fiction. Have I ever watched a pair and gotten the vibe that there is far more going on between them than a script? Yes. Did it make me smile and hope they would get a bit of happiness in return for the happiness I got watching them on screen? Sure. 99% of the time, though, it’s just fiction. Let them do their job, okay? Put yourself in the actors’ place. They’ve found a script they like and a story they want to share. Let them.
